Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins per bonus coin group (so 6 total) by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[ if madoka's has been expecting anything during her little hunting expedition, it's not this - a lost newcomer, smiling and acting for all the world like he's got nothing to be afraid of. it almost intimidates her, really - she feels like he's got something up his sleeve.
so she clears her throat out of reflex, keeping a fair distance before speaking up. ]
I... I do, actually. Did you get lost in here?
[ if he's a newcomer, the last she can do is offer a way out. even if he's not a newcomer. anyone deserves that chance. ]
[For a moment when he sees her, he breathes in sharply and he goes still. Any other day, any other location and he wouldn't have been startled, but Twisted Fate is taken off guard here and now, unsure of what to expect.
She's talking. Right. He remembers to breathe, and he cracks a smile her way. Nope, everything is fine here, really.]
'Fraid so. Foolish of me in retrospect, but here I am, all turned around.
Would you do me the kindness of helping me find my way?
[ it's odd, really, but seeing the startle in the other man - it's reassuring. it means that he's not one of the villagers setting a trap, and it means he's probably a newcomer. madoka's demeanor shifts slightly - her shoulders relaxing as she straightens up out of the tense stance from earlier. ]
Of course! I can do that for you... you're new here, right? I mean, one of the newcomers.
[ she turns away from him, sure to keep him in her periphery - not particularly difficult, with her horizontal pupils - and scans around for a moment. she just needs to identify where she came from, and... ]
This way. [ she flashes him a quick, apologetic smile - sure to keep her lips pressed together - and starts retracing her steps. she makes some conversation as she goes. ] You're part of the newest group, right? So... probably today, or yesterday, at least.
[The body language is easy to comprehend, despite her appearance. She's relaxing around him, and that's a good sign. Still, Twisted Fate remains cautious, knowing that despite everything he's still more unarmed than he's ever been in his life.]
I wonder what gave it away. [It's spoken as a joke, and he chuckles to himself.] Just a couple of days ago. Still getting my bearings.
[Twisted Fate follows her, placing his hands into his pockets.] How long have you been here?
How long, hmm... [ it's mostly idle noise, a way of buying time as she thinks. ] This would be - a year and two months, now? I was one of the very first arrivals, so...
[ her gaze flickers backwards for just a moment, gauging the man's reaction. he's been here for a few days, so surely he's aware on some level what awaits, but - people have ignored the warnings for longer. ]
...you probably shouldn't go near the woods for a while, if you can help it. A lot of the monsters come out here to hunt. [ it's politely worded, as best as she can - there are animals aplenty out here, at least. the fact that someone who isn't a monster yet can get lost so easily... well, she doesn't want to make any implications here. ]
Shame to hear. [If that's the case, it sounds like he has a long stay. It's bad news, but he'll have to roll with it. Such is the way of things. If he's disappointed, Twisted Fate does not show it.]
It wasn't the best choice, I'll admit. [He had his intentions out here. Easy picks in the forest was an old fashioned decision, but Twisted Fate made an error in determining how he'd know his way around. Instead of looking ashamed, he smiles almost sheepishly, his body language still maintaining the usual swagger with a hint of an honest mistake.] I suppose I'm just used t'being able to take what's thrown my way. Not so much used to being as cautious as I need to these days.
