Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

The reserve date has been announced (it was changed to the 30th to allow a maximum number of people compared to a Friday).
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[He takes a moment to ponder. The extra eyes didn't ring a bell on their own, but the rocky growths tripped his recall of someone describing a species he had tangled with a few times before.]

Well, he hadn't expected a direct appeal like that to work. Harry knew bullheaded types when he saw them. More than a few of his people back in Chicago were like that. Then there was the prime example he got to see every morning in the bathroom mirror.]
Guess I shouldn't talk too much. Being a ward of the sate wasn't all sunshine and rainbows after all. After my dad died, the two best things that happened to me were getting taken in by a psychopath who taught me how to use magic so he could turn me into a weapon, and getting dragged out to a farm in bum-fuck nowhere by my- [Grandfather, so he recently discovered.] By an ornery old goat who beat what little good sense I have into me through years of back-breaking labor.
[She's busy taking a few gulps of her juice as he talks, and gear-shaped pupils flick up to look at him over the rim of her glass with curiosity when he says my dad died. But when he gets to turn me into a weapon, she chokes on her drink, slamming the glass down on the table, coughing to clear it out of her airpipe.]
[He eyeballs her curiously while she recovers. Thanks for that distraction kid, it kept Harry from thinking too hard on the lingering sense of betrayal he felt for his two mentors.]
Sorry, you didn't come here to listen to me bitch about my life. Hair about dry?
[No need to think of it like that. Just consider it a favor so that your gangly host doesn't have to hunch over too far.
For having such big, calloused hands, Harry's touch is surprisingly gentle as his fingers brush aside Ryuuko's hair, careful to avoid bumping the stony horns while revealing glimpses of the scalp around them.
Serious question for you Harry. How horrible is your life that you're suddenly getting nostalgic for all the times you and your partners in crime sat down and collectively nursed your wounds after kicking some Big Nasty's ass?]
[If only they had just defeated some Big Nasty, she'd probably be feeling a lot better. But this actually isn't half bad...she finds herself closing her eyes at the gentle touch, pouting slightly with a light blush when she realize how vulnerable she is right now.
[If he were to take notice of that expression, Harry would probably be full of warm and fuzzy dad-like feelings right now, but his eyes are fixed squarely on the top of her head.]
Yeah, these are still looking pretty raw. I'll do the best I can to disinfect the area without starting the bleeding again, but scalp wounds are always a bitch when it comes to that. Mind passing me the peroxide and one of the gauze pads?
[Once he's got the peroxide open, he flicks the ca onto the table before upturning the bottle for a moment with the gauze plugging the opening.]
Wing and a prayer, mostly. [Harry offers her the bottle so he's got both hands free] Obviously this is gonna sting, just getting that out there to remind you not to flinch.
[Well, here goes nothing.
Gingerly brushing her hair aside one more time, Harry begins dabbing around the base of one horn.]
[There's not much of a reaction. She's used to antiseptics, and it stings just about as much as she was expecting, and it's easy enough to brace herself for it.
It's hard to relax at first, but the sting eventually fades, and she lets out a soft breath when it does.]
[Her reaction cemented it in Harry's mind. This girl was definitely someone who had taken more than her fair share of trips up shit-creek.
And it burned him up.
That said, it certainly helps expedite the process, and it doesn't take long at all to have both spots disinfected to his liking.]
Okay, pass me a few more of the pads. It might be a little awkward, but I ought to work if I pack the gauze around the base then take a few turns around with the bandages to hold it in place.
[It takes some very careful work to get the bandages around her head in a way that works, but he gets it eventually.]
Yep, get injured enough and eventually you rack up enough in odd places to get the knack for dealing with em... Probably shouldn't be proud of that, should I?

So I've heard, but most of mine haven't stuck around long enough to brag about. Wizards apparently heal faster than your average joe.
[For an example, he held out his left hand for inspection. It wouldn't have looked out of the ordinary at a casual glance, but closer examination revealed that the skin wasn't quite healthy, instead resembling a mass of decades-old scar tissue]
Couple years back, burned this hand so bad doctors said I should have it amputated. Anyone else probably wouldn't even have full motor control back if they had opted to keep it.
[He matches her expression with a wry smile of his own]
Oh ha ha. I prefer to date within my own generation anyway, so you don't have to worry.
[Withdrawing the hand, he steps off to the side and scoops up his drink to finally polish it off.]
There's plenty your generation could stand to improve on for one thing. For instance, it wouldn't hurt kids these days to occasionally indulge an old geezer when he's pretending to be cool. [Come on, please? All he's ever wanted is one moment where he's legitimately cool, but the rest of the universe is hell-bent on denying it to him]
[Well, that certainly stopped him in his tracks for a second. Sure relying on validation from others can get you in trouble, but at least every once in a while it helps to hear that someone else thinks you're cool, or that what you do isn't hurting more people than it helps.
