Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

The reserve date has been announced (it was changed to the 30th to allow a maximum number of people compared to a Friday).
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[It's enough of an altercation to probably distract from the clicking of claws on the cobblestone street. Kain recognizes the innkeeper, at least, from his days when he was in Vandare buying rooms with hides and wild game.]
Hey. Stephan. Leave the kid be - if I see someone who needs a place I'll point them your way, alright?
[Hopefully by now Ed's seen at least one of the monsters so that it's less of a novelty. His tail swept across the street behind him lazily, and he had his arms folded, drumming clawed fingers on the metallic dark blue scales of his forearm; one of his shoulder-spines was broken off halfway down, and there were some black raised spatter-pattern scars all down his tail. And the rest of his back and the backs of his wings, whenever those were more visible.]
[At least the innkeep seems to take the hint, apologizing a little too profusely; just because Kain's never been threatening doesn't mean there isn't some priority to keep the one that could already burn things down or rip someone apart happy, and while Kain isn't fond of taking advantage of it normally...]
[He's seen a few, but not closely enough to realize the changes aren't just some strange costume, so when Kain catches their attention Ed goes slightly pale and barely notices the retreating innkeeper. He recovers after a few moments though he's still clearly shaken, and glances from the shutting door of the inn back to his unlikely savior.]
What--what the hell happened to you?!
[And promptly sticks his foot right down his throat. Sorry dude, but the last person he saw looking remotely like you had been a victim of secret government experiments, and even that hadn't added a freaking pair of wings onto everything.]
[Still better than an axe waved in his face. You're lucky that you're both new and that getting axes waved at him three times in one day has happened and set his bar for "this is an okay and workable reaction" very, very low.]
The same thing that happens to everyone who's brought here from other worlds.

The Fog God's warped sense of humor.
[He's calm and giving that a beat; he knows it's a craps shoot what kind of world new arrivals come from and what they're more and less willing to accept. After another beat, he does have a sideways glance at one of the mottled, scarred patches, realizing he looks like Hell for more than one reason.]
The Night God is also a bastard. Don't repeat that in front of any of the locals. His followers decided enchanted acids were a good torture method.
[Ed generally tries to avoid threatening people with sharp things as soon as he meets them...well, now, at least. There may have been a few incidents in his youth, please don't ask Alphonse about them.]
[He stares at Kain somewhat slack-jawed, though he is hearing and processing what he says. It's just so...ridiculous, but the mention of gods is oddly what gets it all to snap into place. The only one he's ever know to be real tore his life away for a simple wish, after all.]
Torture? Why the hell would they--no, don't answer, that was a stupid question. [Ed knows damn well what happens when people start to treat someone as an 'other', how far that rabbit hole can go.] This can't be...how many other people have appeared here?
[That "Don't answer that" spared you a lot of incredibly sarcastic commentary on mob violence and genocidal idiots, Ed.]
I'm not sure? I think there may be over a hundred of us by now. [He motions towards Ed and nebulously off at the harbor.] A few handfuls show up every other month. It's been happening for nearly a year now.
[You have already, in some ways, reacted better and spared yourself some asshattery over what Mustang did when he was here.]
A hundred? [That's worrying, to say the least.] And everyone has been...changed, like this?
[He doesn't want to believe it, probably won't completely until he's seen a few more monsters and heard more accounts. But with evidence staring you in the face like that...]
It takes about a month for the changes to start. Some get hit with everything all at once, others it happens gradually over a few months. Sometimes there's a pattern to what someone becomes or playing on existing associations - [His wings shift, letting some of the heavier scales on the back rattle-] - and sometimes it doesn't make much sense or seems like the Fog God went for the most inappropriate thing she could.
[He's had far too long to get used to this, and getting something that fell in line with existing affinities left him as one of the "lucky" ones, but there really isn't a good answer, even if he is calm and getting a little too used to it.]
[Ed shakes his head, raking a hand through his bangs as he processes the information. A month, and the changes are mostly random from the sounds of it...probably a few common themes, but not everything is the same.]
But...why? What's the point of it? The thing can't seriously be doing it just because it can! [Even the Gate had rules it followed--hell, the thing was nothing but rules. There had to be an underlying logic to this mess.]
And solves the problem by kidnapping people and changing them without any mind for what they would want. Brilliant.
[Can you smell the sarcasm? Can you? Edward sighs and runs a hand down his face.]
Does anyone have any idea how the changes are being inflicted? I'm guessing it has something to do with being chewed up by a bunch of somethings before actually waking up here, but that doesn't exactly explain a spontaneous and random transmutation a month down the line.

She's in a fight with one of the other gods. All the others, really, but one more than the others. She wants people she can get to fight for her.
