Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

The reserve date has been announced (it was changed to the 30th to allow a maximum number of people compared to a Friday).
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
A/Scenario One [He'd read over all of the pamphlets once he'd gotten out of the hospital and came away... less than impressed. Even if they were just meant to be basic information, they were ridiculously sensationalist and he doubted the accuracy.]
[But if there were transformations going on, then that meant that there would have to be people that had already changed, as well as hopefully some documentation by people that had actually done something resembling research if he could find a library - so he set out across Vandare to find one or the other.]
[He's going for any monsters in town he can find around the inhabited areas, walking right up to them where the locals are giving a wide berth.]
Beg pardon, might I trouble you for a few questions?
(B / Scenario Three) [Most people were not brain damagedavoiding the fog. Trey, however, as soon as he'd seen it moving in, only stopped to grab a hunting bow and quiver of arrows he'd managed to find, heading out into the fog intentionally.]
[If the fog was something unnatural, then if there were any clues out, it'd be the best time to be out.]
[He was out moving across the town, staying close to walls and minding where there were balconies and other things that'd break up openings for aerial ambush, the bow kept cautiously in hand.]
[Most people were not part of a group that may or may not have participated in discussing getting a kiddie leash for Machina, to keep him from wandering off. However, Trey was one of those people, and his behavior had Machina wanting to follow him.]
[He let Trey get his distance- after all, he knew roughly what the blond's training entailed, and figured he could track and follow the other Cadet just fine at a healthy distance. Well... until he got frustrated.]
Trey!
[Machina's voice is a low hiss as he moves to catch up with the other Cadet.]
What in the name of the Crystal are you doing going out on your own?
[He almost starts, bow tensing, but it's a short startle; reflex as recognition of the voice processes. He's not sure if it's a surprise or not, since whether or not Machina's going to help right now is a gamble between Machina's hostility grumps and Machina's more normal nature.]
...Reconnaissance. Or something resembling it.
[Yes, he is trying to play it off, and it's not working entirely well.]
[ Machina doesn't miss that reflex, but he would be doing the same, in Trey's shoes. ]
Why don't I believe you?
[ That gamble definitely ended on the side of Machina being hostile and grumpy- he's shorter than Trey by a good bit, but still doing an impressive job of looming.
Especially since he's a close-range fighter and Trey is more of a ranged attacker. This close, he has a distinct advantage. ]
[Trey's reacting to the confrontational baiting by holding the bow more pointedly away, opting for "Unimpressed and not reacting"; even if he'd rather have King or Deuce to duck behind here...]
Well, we're in a completely unfamiliar place with some sort of threat that may or may not be linked to the fog.
I would like to know what part of "reconnaissance" under those circumstances doesn't make sense.
[He's not replacing his arrow in the quiver - they are outside in territory that could become hostile at the drop of a hat - but he does shift weight to make it more pointedly aimed away, opting for "long-suffering".]
Well, mainly, as much as I would ordinarily trust you in combat situations, one does not typically ask someone that is being violently and erratically hostile to watch their back for something that may require cooperation in the face of unexpected circumstances with little room for communication and a need to predict the other party's actions intuitively, and Eight or King are not exactly here to ask to help with scouting. [He was framing it heavily in terms of the tactical problem - send someone that hates the other person to back them up on recon, and there'd be temptation to let the hated party walk into an ambush and play it off as circumstances - but there is hurt under it that he's covering.]
As vocal as you've been about hating us all, I doubt you'd be that bothered if something were to happen, besides.
