Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
The reserve date has been announced (it was changed to the 30th to allow a maximum number of people compared to a Friday).
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
He swears he heard the cat-monster call him dumb, which was rude, but at least it's not eating him. Or maybe--nope, just pointing a claw at him.
"You could have said that before. Now that I'm not being immediately threatened with death, your face does about the same." He moves forward a little, mindful of the claws, to get a better look.
"I bet you're going to tell me you're some sort of long-lost twin or something, right?"
"...oh now I know you're full of it." He fluffs up in impotent kitty rage. It wasn't like Neku was a common name, especially combined with their family name. What had Shiki called it? Cute? Yeah no thanks.
"Yeah. Same." He hisses softly, though it doesn't seem to be aimed at the other Neku. Instead he pinches his nose and clenches his eyes closed- as if he has a headache. Okay... okay he knew other world's existed, as well as times thanks to Rhyme. It made logical sense other worlds with the same people exist too.
"Okay... this is gonna sound insane, and if I'm right your gonna look at me like I'm an idiot... But I think we're the same person from different worlds."
"Yeah, you're right, it sounds completely insane. But it sorta makes sense if we both have the same name and the same appearance." Or had the same appearance, the other Neku is more manticore, obviously.
"Though if we're the same person, we should know the same things, right? Maybe we should ask each other questions only we would know the answers to."
He sits back on his haunches, tails curling into lazy questions marks.
"...I guess that makes sense. But if it's different worlds some things might be different. But I guess there can't be TOO much that is, so can't hurt to try. Ask me anything."
Those tails are distracting, and he watches them for a few seconds before answering Neku.
"I don't think it's too different...if we look identical, our worlds are probably similar enough. Uh...I guess you'd know what I hate people trying to mess with or touch?"
Okay, that was lame, but it was the first thing he could think of. It's his headphones, of course, which he managed to save but unhappy about currently, because they've been rendered useless by the ocean water.
"Right. But seriously? Not even the earbud types? If so, that's pretty lame."
Yeah, he can see why headphones wouldn't work with cat ears. Poor other self. There's also another thought that it's really weird that they're having something resembling a normal conversation.
"Well, if you wear them to tune people out, then yeah. I don't usually have problems with people, but sometimes I want to listen to what I want instead of what they want to tell me.

Why thank you c:

"Is your family name Sakuraba?"
no subject
"Uh...yeah, it is actually. My name's Neku."
no subject
"That's MY name!"

He'd probably fluff up as well, but he's not part-cat, so he doesn't and has to settle for looking insulted.
"I take it you're also from Shibuya?"
no subject

He pauses, looking away with a mix of discomfort and sadness. "I'm guessing you wear them for the same reasons I used to?"
