TEST DRIVE: NOVMEMEBER (get it because it's a meme)

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The reserve date is 11/27.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
Tonbokiri | Touken Ranbu
[ Hospitality is always appreciated when you're in an unfamiliar place, and Tonbokiri is a pleasant enough person. Being polite also helps him deal with feeling a little (okay very) lost at what's going on, why he's here, where's anybody he recognizes, all that. So like any reasonable person, he reads the pamphlets he was given. Every single one, because he keeps hoping the next one he can sit through is a little better or a little more helpful.
Yeah, that isn't happening. By the eighth serious one (the joke ones are kindly set aside) he's just idly going through it more than reading. His own face reads something between despondent and horrified in the end, sighing as he rubs at his temple.
To whoever takes notice of him (a big guy like him looking stressed out is probably a sight) or perhaps is eyeing that basket of food he's got next to him, they're going to have something from it, whether it's fruit or some bread, offered to them. ]
Take it. I've lost my appetite.
scenario 2
[ Well, now he's actually lost somewhere. It's fine he thinks, even if he's human it still feels like he has most of the stamina he used to have as a tsukumogami. Having something to defend himself would have been preferable... but at the very least he can somewhat cautious. To a point where he make dumb mistakes. ]
Is... anyone there?
[Like that, though he never was good at being stealthy anyway. That sound of giggling is getting to him so maybe, just running through the woods to escape that sound might do something. That's probably when he'll run right into someone. He's very sorry. ]
scenario 4: gargoyle
This is unfortunate... but it is to be expected. I have no intention of dying.
[ It's useless to say that to corpses, and probably unnecessary for those were out to kill you. But hey, he can feel remorseful and kind of understand people trying to hunt him down. He remembers people being all fearful earlier, and this is the reason why, wasn't it?
For someone whose name comes from a tale of cutting a dragonfly to becoming what he assumes is like a dragon... how dreadfully ironic. There are patches of violet scales over his arms and shoulders, as well as matching wings that he he has tried to keep folded and out of the way. His clawed hands and clothes are covered in blood, but it doesn't bother him. He's used to fighting, and even under these circumstances he's good at it.
Maybe you're another monster they were about to hunt as well and had to fight them off, or some unfortunate bystander caught somewhere in the middle of it. Either way, his tone of voice shifts to one that's much gentler as he looks toward them. ]
Will you be alright?
1
[It's true he'd been eyeing that apple, but he hadn't actually expected to get it? Yue's never been one to look a gift horse in the mouth though, so he'll happily accept it before turning his attention to the (probably) more important thing here.]
Are you feeling okay though? If you lost your appetite.
no subject
...Nope, he still doesn't want to eat it. The bright red of it makes him think of that talk of drinking blood... ugh. Bask into the basket. ]
Those.. pamphlets, they're called? Their contents are a lot to take in, and I suppose I have a weak stomach.
no subject
What's in the pamphlets, if they hurt your appetite like that? Are they, um...gross? Or something.
no subject
Hm... A lot of them are about eating things that you normally shouldn't. Among the other disturbing topics, like... transformations.
no subject
...Ah. [he deflates a little bit at that, innocent curiosity replaced by an awkward sort of smile.] The transforming part is kind of disturbing, isn't it? Especially since I'm not sure if we can change back. [Not commenting on the food part just yet.]

... Tonbokiri-san?
[His eyes widen in surprise and he take a step back. Tonbokiri may notice there's two lumps on Yamanbagiri's head, which are hidden by his hood. His tail is covered by his cloak behind him, but he might notice some small movements there.]
You're here?
no subject
[ Someone he recognizes! Tonbokiri's happiness is pretty understated, since he's not a ball of sunshine right now and neither is Yamanbagiri on a normal basis. Speaking of which... his hood doesn't look quite normal, but he knows better than to touch that topic. That's alright, Yaman can have that juicy pear... or not. It's unusual for Yaman to be taken aback, so now Tonbo is concerned. ]
Is.. it bad that I am? I wouldn't know how I am here.
no subject
Although he do have a pear in his hand now.]
Ah... yes, it is. I'm glad to see you, Tonbokiri-san. However, being here is terrible and it would have been better if you haven't arrive here.
no subject
[ Ah... that's Yamanbagiri's honesty all right. However, those concerns are definitely valid as Yaman sees it. It doesn't help that it's normal Tonbokiri to care and worry about the other swords.
In fact, he's pretty concerned right now. What Yaman is saying would imply he's been here for long enough... ]
Yamanbagiri-san... Has something happened to you?
[ He stands up to get a closer look at the not-sword? Bestidea.png ]
no subject
... Yes, Tonbokiri-san. I believe it's better if we find a place to sit down, first.
[Instead of standing around and, probably, drawing looks from other people.]

2
I'm sorry... [ He hasn't looked up yet, Kogi's been pointing his ears in that direction to get a better idea of where the voice was coming from and--- ]
... Tonbokiri-san. You're here? [ Shock, a little dismay, but mostly concern. ] What are you doing in this forest? It's a very unusual place, and you're probably unarmed.
[ Kogi's been there. Not specifically here in Lager Woods, but you know. ]
no subject
My memory is unclear. I believe I was following someone who seemed to be helpful... My mistake, for not being more aware.
[ He's catching on that might have gotten duped, if that's what actually happened. At the mention he's unarmed, he stares at his hands before folding his arms to hide his unease at the reminder. ]
Yes, I couldn't find my vessel... and I'm unable to sense where it could be, either.
...Kogitsunemaru-san, would you have any knowledge of wht happened to it?
no subject
I'm sorry, it's gone--- but you know that, right?
[ He doesn't have the heart to tell Tonbokiri that he is also human now, and that his scent is quite human as well. It's an odd empty feeling. ]
You know that you're in a very dangerous forest... who were you following? If you can remember what they looked like, I will make sure they apologize for their transgression.
[ In short, he will probably beat them up with clawed fists. ]
no subject
[ He gets the picture, but it's hard to hide the sigh that follows. As for the humanity issue, he'll... deal. Ever enduring, that's this former's life in a nutshell. At least he isn't alone, he would think. ]
Kogitsunemaru-san, don't concern yourself with it. I found you, so it will be alright.
no subject
It's Tonbokiri's vote of confidence in the little dog/fox that makes the smile deepen, barely blossoming. After all, even through the thick of it, it is another possible ally. That alone is a blessing among the curses. ]
You're right. It will be fine. Fortunately, there are others of us that are here too. They will be glad to see you, if we make it out of the forest.
[ There's a chance Kogi is also lost, but... well, yeah. ]

4 here i am i HAVE CAME!
It's now that after the battle there's a voice that rings in his ears and he knows it all too well. His eyes slowly opening as he wishes to turn his head but before him is a human whose hand reaches out in order to grab at Yamato's ankle. Squeezing and begging for him to let him live, if he's even human (donning only a few feathers in his hair and pointy ears) , he should be able to understand that there is a reason why people live.
That he shouldn't let him die.
That Yamato shouldn't let this human die.
Even if they have a gash in their back and one of their legs is barely hanging on.
Holding the hilt of his blade as he turns his head, sapphire falling onto the gentle voice that's given to him. ]
I should be asking you that.
[ And of course, he gives his own smile back. ]
\o/
He hasn't lost himself, he wants to cling to that belief. That person who responds, it's Yamato, is it not? In the same state as him, so to speak... he can't even be pushed to feel uneasy at his fellow sword's calmness. If anything, it's something to try and follow along with. He should strive to stay himself.
As for that human who was (un)fortunate enough to live, his fate is up to the one he's begging for mercy from. That sort of passivity in Tonbokiri still remains; it wouldn't be right to step in. ]
My injuries are minor. I will... get used to this sort of mishap.
[ He's looking straight at Yamato, nodding back to try reassuring it. ]
!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh pats his head its time to take him from this bloody place
Minor? Then we should find you somewhere to rest, the Saniwa of this world doesn't know how to heal us like the one back home but.. [ He guesses that as long as the other can be tended to. ] But we are still good swords and we can fight so that matters, even if we are injured.
[ With the human pulling at Yamato's leg again, the uchigatana gazes down as he slowly takes his leg away. There is nothing he needs to do here, allowing someone to live must be frowned upon but Yamato was just protecting himself. They'll be fine, alone. It's what he guesses. ]
It is a surprise to see you here.. I didn't think I'd have to see any more of my comrades in thi splace.
aw yams is so nice! helping poor souls
[ He had a habit to dismiss injuries of this nature, they're not much more than cuts and bruises. So long as he could still move, then they aren't something to require the concern. But he doesn't want to argue, Yamato probably just wants to help his unfortunate comrade thrown into this pit. Yamato... is a good sword. So is their Saniwa, whoever it is, and he'll take the suggestion.
The other part he hears is encouraging, something close, and yet, there'e this sense of... emptiness still? He doesn't feel like a weapon anymore. Taking down those who oppose them is their livelihood, but this is different in some difficult way that's hard to explain. He doesn't feel satisfied or relieved, just aware of everything and not wanting to be. ]
I believe I understand why the others have said something similar. Yamato-san... We should leave.
[ He sounds rather melancholy as he starts walking, making an effort to not stare at the messy ground. ]
hes a pure soul sometimes ONLY SOMETIMES
Because he doesn't want the other to stress, he decides to make conversation so that he can at least have some peace of mind. ]
Some of our comrades are here as well so it isn't just us. Horikawa Kunihiro, Tsurumaru Kuninaga and Munechika Mikazuki have found themselves here but.. they've been here longer than I. Yamanbagiri Kunihiro and Kogitsunemaru are also here, appeared somewhat at the same time as me. [ Yamato is going on about two months but the other three have been here and been through changes but when he looks at the other. ]
But the appearance of your body looks like you've been here.. much longer than any of us. I wonder how such a thing could happen..
/cherishes the purity while wading through blood
UGH BLOOD IS OUR HOME i love it
2!!
She lost sight of the big man though after she followed him. Not until she heard his voice asking for whoever was there, thanks to the creepy laughing. Quickly, she tried to locate him, but instead she bounces right off his body and lands on the ground?!]

and spears can't swimTonbokiri definitely feels that impact, and immediately kneels down to help the poor woman? This wouldn't be the first time someone gets knocked over by him, honestly. It's like running into a wall. ]
Uh- I'm sorry! Are you hurt?
no subject
She's slightly winded because she didn't brace herself for impact at all, and so graciously accepts his help.]
No no, I am fine. [She shakes her head to recover.] I apologise for walking into you.
no subject
He's happy to help her, since it's somewhat his fault and all, despite what she says. ]
You needn't worry about it. This area doesn't lend itself to elegant footing.
[ While she's here and hopefully a nice young woman... ]
If I may ask, are you familiar with these woods?
