Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[ It was anyone's guess how she stopped being processed, how that influence that had taken and transformed her entire being had just been stripped away. But who really knew if it was gone at all? ]
No. You can't be real. [ She's still advancing. ] All I have to do is shove you away and you will disappear.
[ Because that's totally how illusions were dealt with, you know. Totally. ]
[ Her words are firm and entirely certain. Despite her regrets and uncertainties about the past, she would not stand for being referred to as a child. ]
[ Meanwhile it's fortunate that this was Lager Woods, because for once the illusions of this place were on her side. As she advances, the reality of her form becomes clear. Sorry Mr. Swordface, Sybil wasn't entirely human anymore. As she comes to a stop in front of him, she looms over him. Eight long, arachnid legs hold up the spider body that now makes up her lower half. All over the solid black body are red and white hairs, looking far too much like the colors of the Camerata. ]
[ This was something straight out of a nightmare. It was almost like a Process transformation, only it wasn't at all. Instead, it was just some horrible joke that this place was playing on both of them. She leans in closer to him, and hovers a finger close to the red circle on his forehead. ]
He blanches. This is way more horrifying than anything the Process ever managed to throw at them, what with their pristine and smooth white and black contours, none of this sharp-edged and furred nonsense.
Legs. So many legs, segmented, creepy, crawly--ugh. This is the straw that broke the horse's back, especially in this already unnerving place.
He leans away from her touch] Heh. You know what?
Just realized I was walking in the wrong direction this whole time. So I'm...just...gonna...
[He turns on his heel and bolts, not for a second considering that she might be able to easily outrun him with her extra appendages.]
[ That was a reaction. A reaction that she expected, a reaction that she wouldn't ever forget. Immediately, she's running after him, catching up in no time at all. Eight legs were far, far faster than two after all. She's beside him, smiling an awful smile just before she lunges to tackle him. Have fun with that spider body, bud. ]
[ She has a lot more mass to handle, and she's still not as masterful with her arachnid form as she'd like to be so her recovery is much less graceful compared to his. She doesn't rush him again, but she certainly looks like she might. Threat posture is definitely a thing, with the front two of her arachnid legs raised and ready while the other six look ready to pounce. ]
I want you to stay away. [ She's actually genuinely frowning now. ] Stay away from her. She's not yours.
[There's really no more appearing threatening than she already is, by default. But since she made it clear to him that flight is not an option, there's only one choice left.
He smirks.]
Not mine! [He huffs out a laugh.] You want to torture her more, then?
[ His response strikes a nerve, and it shows. She looks ready to shout at him for a few moments, her thoughts a storm of emotion before she gets herself in better control. She finally lets out a sigh, her posture deflating and relaxing a little at a time. A soft smile replaces the frown, and her eyes lock on his. ]
You are the one who would torture her. [ Pointing a finger. ] I am protecting her from you. From what you are now.
[ His comment is enough to give her pause, at least. Pause enough to firmly state exactly what's on her mind. Surely if she was thinking this through properly, her answer might have been different. But here, now? It's all envy and jealousy. ]
I never had the chance, because of you. [ That smile of hers, that fake show of stability cracks. She isn't going to let it show that she might have doubts, she can't. ] I did everything for her.
[She really wants to talk about it, doesn't she? Then fine, he'll talk about it. But she's not going to like what he has to say.
Sybil's about to learn why you don't mess with the quiet ones.]
She trusted you. Thought of you as a friend! But that wasn't enough for you. No, you wanted to take the pretty little songbird and keep her in a cage just so you could tell the world that she was yours! You took her trust and you abused it. You took her voice, me, all of Cloudbank and her citizens, everything that Red loved, and you turned it into nothing! Everyone--even Red--went to the Country, and the city's nothing but white walls! Dead.
And it's all--[here comes the accusatory finger]--your fault! If you think Red is going to forgive you for any of it, you've got one long nightmare ahead of you, because it will never happen.
Red doesn't need to be protected from anything, but if she did--it would be you.
[ The more he speaks, the more her eyes widen. She opens her mouth to speak, but stops, even as he keeps speaking. She can't tell him he's wrong, because he's not. She doesn't have to admit to it though, especially not to him. She can counter him, though, with that pretty little smile breaking away and anger filtering into her voice. ]
You think I wanted that? You think I wanted the city that I helped craft, the people-- [ She's on the verge of tears here, stuttering as the faces of Cloudbank surface in her mind. ] --people... they... All of them, gone. I knew them all, every single resident. You think I would just throw that away?! It wasn't supposed to be that way! You didn't just disappear like you were supposed to!
[ She's leaning towards him, her fists balled up at her sides and clenching until her knuckles go white. ] I don't need her to forgive me, I just need her, and her voice, and to know she's okay-- [ Shaking her head rapidly, trying to make the tears stop flowing down her cheeks now. ] I didn't get to go to the country, I don't get a happy ending, but she's here and she talks to me. It's not over. It's not, It's-- [ Her hands go to her face, trying to wipe the tears away. ] --not...!
[If she thinks the waterworks are going to make him feel sorry for her, it's not gonna happen. He spent too long harboring anger towards the Camerata for what they did for any pathetic display to make him pull out a handkerchief and say there, there.
He stands firm, even as she comes closer. He's gotten over that spider-body by now, even if it is exceedingly creepy; it's barely more of a visual threat than she is.]
That's why she was never going love you back. All you care about is what you want.

No. You can't be real. [ She's still advancing. ] All I have to do is shove you away and you will disappear.
[ Because that's totally how illusions were dealt with, you know. Totally. ]

[Taking a half-step backwards.]
Touch me, and you'll get to know exactly how real I am.
im so sorry
[ Her words are firm and entirely certain. Despite her regrets and uncertainties about the past, she would not stand for being referred to as a child. ]

[At least he knows how to fall without sustaining injury. He catches himself and turns over to look up at her, scowling.
Wow. Even Turn() isn't working. What's the use of having the Transistor stuck to his face if it can't do anything?]
Yeah. Great. What are you going to do with that knowledge, huh? Kill me again?

A piece of advice? Shut your trap before you make it any more obvious that you've never asked or cared about what Red thinks.

Good! It's mutual.

You're going to hurt her, too, and she won't forgive you.
no subject
Got anything meaningful to say? If you're just going to fill the air, then can we at least walk and talk so we can get out of here?
[Strangely enough her toxic spew is somehow preferable background noise than directionless, childlike giggling.]
no subject
Are you not afraid that I will lead you deeper into the woods and eat you?
no subject
Would've done it by now if you were planning on it.
no subject
Fine. Let's walk. [ She finally stops glaring at him, at least, as she starts walking. All eight legs taking slow strides as she moves already. ]
