to condense a very complex situation down to its bare essentials, i am from a world where necromancy is commonplace. our kindly god-emperor invited all the House heirs like myself to compete to be his new Saints, which means immortality. part of that competition was discovering the theorems that would allow that kind of seemingly-impossible magic, and i figured it out.
thus, the murder cannibalism. or rather, that's the ritual portion, at least. the actual mechanism is essentially housing my victim's immortal soul within my own body as a sort of permanent magic battery.
