nancy wheeler | dead by daylight

[ when Nancy opens her eyes, the feeling of lying prone and still isn't particularly unfamiliar, but everything else is. usually, after a bad trial, she comes to in the forest on the outskirts of the campfire, the dark canopy of trees blotting out the light of the moon.

this isn't that. blinking, Nancy scrabbles her hands out to push herself up. tombstones dot the landscape, and when she turns to look over her shoulder, there's hers, her name etched neatly into the marble. she'd had a nightmare like this once or twice. a premonition, maybe, or just an inevitability, even before she'd gotten caught up in the Entity's realm, but seeing it in person makes her mouth go dry.

it takes her a couple more moments to realize that the other stones bare the names of her fellow survivors. with a start, Nancy scrambles to her feet, blue eyes wide as she looks around. the rest of the graves are undisturbed, and the blood drains from her face as she staggers through the patchy grass, ostensibly trodding across the graves of her friends.

a heavy, metallic sound makes her swivel in the opposite direction, and she squints as, in the distance, someone hulking lumbers toward her. ]

Hey!

[ come on - even in death, Nancy's going to grab the attention of something - or someone - that she shouldn't. ]

[ somehow, Nancy had made it out of the graveyard with her head still on her shoulders. now, panting and disheveled, she has to pause for a second to get her bearings, because the sheer level of noise is sending her into a state of overwhelm.

this - this - what? look, she'd heard all about the future from her friends, and she'd been the butt of a enough 'the eighties called!' jokes. none of that had actually prepared her to experience anything like this. the people who look at her like she's a pariah are almost welcome, because as soon as anybody gets too close, Nancy backs off, quick backwards steps that have her bumping into irritated passerbys and nearly stepping into oncoming traffic. someone grabs her by the arm and hauls her out of the street, and Nancy stumbles and reaches out with both hands to shove them away. ]

[ freak her out with ya monster or something, by all means ]
