[Varian is more or less nocturnal now since the sun hurts his DELICATE SKIN, so he usually runs his errands at night. And fortunately for the night dwelling monsters, most establishments- especially grocery stores- tend to be open 24/7 for that very reason. That doesn't mean all the stores are open, though...as he comes walking up on somebody who definitely looks like they're about to rob an electronics store.
While normally he'd just leave with his groceries in the hopes he wasn't noticed, this looks like 1) a human and 2) a kid...and Varian could overpower him easily if needed.]
