[The gesture of confidence spurs her to comply eagerly with a pleased little noise. It's gratifying to see him feeling so safe now, when all indications previous were that he might've been constantly looking over his shoulder -- or even inward, to demoralize himself. And living like that... it just isn't right. Maybe he'll never stop hating himself, but to literally see the feeling illuminate him all over... that was worth the danger of being turned down.
