TEST DRIVE MEME: JANUARY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[There's a rule that, in this moment, Totoko has decided is one she should henceforth be living her life by. The rule is this: When in doubt, place blame on a Matsuno.

She flaps her arms about, yelling loudly and secretly very relieved that she's not alone.]

You stupid, stupid garbage!! You soggy, cold taiyaki! You-

[Of course, her initial reaction to that voice is totally derailed when Osomatsu is close enough that she can see him more clearly through the darkness and her own tears.]

Wh-- Wh-!!

[Is that shock? Horror?]

What is up with that hideous costume at a time like this?!

[The loud thud totally disrupts the atmosphere, and as Jyushi shuffles towards her, people yelp and quickly get out of the way. Totoko, for her part, seems nothing but disdainful of the fact that everyone is suddenly no longer paying attention to her.

Then, of course, she hears him, sees his body and the blood, and positively shrieks. It's less of a frightened shriek, however, and more of a 'I'm very much ready to punch you extremely hard in the face', shriek.]

Back up, back up, back uuuuuuuup!

[No time for a friendly reunion when there's a chance he could get some of that gross messy blood on her.]

That wouldn't be a very good way to draw a willing audience, would it? [Asaka's tone is deceptively light - in reality, she's still fearful of the very real chance of death on this peninsula, and with the Fog having brought them here to begin with, she can't be too confident in how uninterested she is in killing them. Still, if they did choose to follow her, there'd have to be a much lower risk.]

I'll introduce the idea if I decide that this is the place I'd like to be.

Well, she almost looks a bit surprised to hear that. Almost.

It's been tricky to figure out how to keep from letting her emotions spill everywhere, but she's pretty sure she's got a handle on it.] ...Just what are you talking about then? I was pretty sure that made the most sense given the context...

Not really. The general idea that she picks people at random to torment seemed a little odd too...not even Dark Matter did that sort of thing. [It goes without saying that this 'Dark Matter' is probably some Seriously Evil Stuff.

As it is. She smiles.] Yes, it does have yet to prove to be a very charming location either way, doesn't it~? [All foggy and dreary-it certainly fits the Fog God's aesthetic, but she's not sure it suits the sort she'd follow along with even without the matter of what the Fog has done.]

Finally, he actually advances to Karamatsu, cupping his chin and looking him over. He's in direct reach now. ]</sub>

I mean, I figured you were just some Amanto from Planet Bees with a big fixation on faeries or some crap like that.

[ Ah, what a great distraction Gintoki is? So convincing??? Actually, Kogitsunemaru is 100% sure that he's not really giving it his all, but it should be enough. After all, he's still a sword in spirit, but with the compassion from his former master and previous comrades? A good Kogi.

He creeps off to the side, along the edge of the beach, lurking in the darkness as best as a white-furred werewolf can. As long as Gintoki does all of the right moves, keeps the human's eyes off of him, then he'll be fine.

Of course, some sand will help too.

Finally getting behind the gunperson, he waves his hands, pointing at Gintoki to get down. Holding up three fingers, he lowers one by one very slowly.

[oh, no! Totoko is yelling! well, Jyushimatsu has been around her long enough to know that that is a war-cry. he stops running towards her just in time, holding up his hands]

Totoko-chan! It's me! Jyushimatsu! [he knows he looks scary, but he's still the same, weird Jyushimatsu! sort of!]

Hermione coughs her way to consciousness, pushing herself up slowly so she can look around herself. Is this still part of the Ministry? There are so many strange rooms there that a beach and an unpleasant smell doesn't seem so far out of the realm of possibility - though admittedly, she can't imagine what purpose it would serve.
She stands up cautiously, one hand clutched to her aching chest, immediately feeling for her wand - a wand that isn't in her pocket. Hermione's pulse rises, just a little, as she looks around anxiously. If this is the Ministry, then that means she's in danger of immediate attack from Death Eaters. Without a wand and already injured… she doesn't even want to think about what will happen next.

There's no point staying here though. Her wand isn't here. She starts to stagger up the beach. Every step is agony: whatever curse the Death Eater aimed at her was strong.
"Harry," she calls, in a little over a whisper. "Ron? Anyone?"

The leaflets Hermione's handed are certainly unusual, and she pauses on a bench to read them. It's clear that somehow she's not in the Ministry, not even in England any more. So the creatures are familiar, but eating human flesh? Hermione shudders.
"Disgusting," she murmurs. But all the same, her mind whirs. Whatever this is, these strangers are at least trying to persuade her of the inevitability that she'll turn into a flesh eating monster - which is just a bit ridiculous, really. But why would they bother with the leaflets? If it's a joke, it's a bit over-elaborate. So then, what? A curse? A potion? Animagi gone wrong? There has to be some sort of way to at least control transformations, right?
Hermione stands up. She obviously has a great deal of research to do if she stands a chance of getting home unscathed. She taps the nearest passerby on their shoulder.

"Excuse me, but can you tell me where the library is?"

How long is not all that long ago?

[Because they were pretty recent so far as he's concerned, but if they're happening somewhere with actual witches... maybe it was even more recent.]

Just as you are, I assume, I am and always will be human first and foremost. I only changed when I arrived here, to Ryslig.

[Oh, no, this poor girl. She seems so sweet and innocent, knowing why she's here makes Fiora's heart ache. But she'll be strong for her sake!

She take's Totoko's hand with her own, covered in blue scales. And are those fins?]

[She's managed to get walking down again, at least. It's very odd being more than a foot tall-though with how 'uniformly sized' humans seemed next to pokemon so far, it had taken a bit to notice. If it wasn't for the sudden change in center of gravity in fact, she wouldn't have noticed at all.

...Well. She would have noticed suddenly wearing layers and layers of clothing and not having fur. That much, she would have noticed.

There was no telling who else was the 'same' as they always were-but for now Espurr chose not to focus on such things, instead focusing on if there was anyone else here at all. She had come from the beach-along with many others, after all. So maybe there would be another here?

The child sees Hermione before she hears her-and as such, what she says largely ignores what Hermione 'whispered' entirely.] Oh-! ...Hello.

...Did you just wake up here?

But....the humans don't really want you to be here?

[So it's sort of like it's private! Maybe? Also he attempts to point out directions before remembering he's a bird, and.

Probably best not to change back into big form when he's riding on the guy. Yue takes flight instead, heading towards the town and swooping back to land on his shoulder.]

[Stocke looks away himself, tendrils winding slowly, to give her some illusion of privacy. He doesn't comment on her tears. It's what he'd appreciate, if their situations were reversed.]

[It's a struggle not to keep glancing at her, though.]

[His tendrils perk at the question, and he turns back, with a short shake of his head.] ...it's not so convenient as at night, but I can find a way around.

[As soon as there's no threat of her clothes getting all dirtied up, she calms down super quickly. Aside from that, to be honest, this isn't the worst sextuplet she could run into.]

[Even as she walks properly, it seems off. She can't figure out what about it is bothering her though, so she stashes the knowledge aside.]

Tell me about yourself though. I need talk to focus. [Either she listens or she ignores it and focuses on the task at hand. Both seems good right now]

... Hmph. So I'm with a foreigner and well away from Japan. That just raises many more questions. [Mostly because with the borders closed around the island, she hasn't seen anyone new in many years. All the faces she's seen in the city over the last decade or so were familiar to her, one way or another.

She appreciates the company, even if she doesn't seem like it. Her sharp eyes look underneath her heavy bags, surveying the empty beach. It's been a while since she's seen the beach, but she hasn't seen one as rugged as this one in a very, very long time.]

I have a few ideas why I'd be taken from my home, but not without being taken out as well. [If not dead then she would be taken hostage at the Oval Tower, not abandoned here. Though the thought does make her check her wrist and then pockets. She frowns.] Hmph. My coil isn't here either. I can't contact anyone.

[Of course, that's no guarantee. As evidenced by the fact that NEITHER of them eat meat. Not that they can possibly be aware of that right now...]

Er... [What the hell Jataro. What does that have to do with anything?] If I had to guess, I would say the latter. Since it seems as though her powers have no effect on beings that come from her native universe. She can only transform those stolen from other points in the multiverse.

What if she stole aliens from some other universe and brought them here and then turned them into monsters and then they invaded? That could happen! Big headed, green aliens with monster parts!

[Sorry Nagisa. What were they talking about? Whatever it was is apparently being put on pause.]

Well...yes, she could do that. But I don't know that you could truly call that an invasion. After all, she'd be the one bringing them here. And chances are, she would only bring a few individuals as opposed to an entire alien race. I mean...she only brought the two of us here, after all. And many of the monsters here seem to be the lone representative of their universes.

[Okay, they can talk about hypothetical alien invasions, he guesses. Why not.]

But can't aliens make more aliens really easily? They just set up a lab and use science to clone themselves. They could have a clone army of monster aliens.

[That's probably not how it works, but not like he knows. Who knows what aliens can do.]

And then those aliens could start making other monsters into aliens too. Or control our minds and make us work for them!

I really don't think we have to worry about that happening. You've seen the technology level of Ryslig, cloning just isn't possible here. And since we only arrive with little more than our clothes...

[You see what he's getting at here? Alien monster clones are highly impossible. Mind control, though...that he's not so sure of. So he's just not going to comment on that.]
