Well, it's not Hajime, but the voice that rings out across the beach should be familiar to Kazuichi all the same. It's accompanied by the sound of feet moving quickly across the sand...though something about it sounds a little off. Like there's more than one set of feet moving.
The barrel of the gun moves, and a gunshot rings through the air. There's a loud, animalistic snarl and a few moments later, the sound of a man screaming and running away. The gun lands in the sand next to the mechanic, abandoned in the face of something far more terrifying than a half-drowned future monster.
If and when Kazuichi decides to look up, he'll be greeted with the sight of some kind of dog-man standing in front of him, hackles raised and flame-like tufts of fur seeming to crackle like actual fire as he growls at the hunter's retreat. Once he's satisfied that the native is gone and isn't coming back, he finally turns his attention to the boy on the beach.
