TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

But hey, that's good news, isn't it? That the other dead aren't here? Nidai finds his good spirits again.]

Then it just means we truly were reanimated, doesn't it? [He punches the air.] After all, we wouldn't feel our injuries like this if we weren't living creatures!

That's not even a real year, she wants to say, but she's quickly learning that nearly anything is possible here. She's never even heard of a Shinigami flower. This place is making her life until now seem mundane.

"It was 1998 the last time I checked." She gasps. "They can pull people from different times, too. This is bigger than I thought. A lot bigger."

YEAH!! That's the spirit, Saionji!

[HE'S SO! PUMPED!!]

And as a team manager, I'll do everything in my power to make sure every one of us CAN do what's needed! I've decided once again! I'LL SUPPORT YOU ALLLLLLLLL!!

[Oh god was that strictly necessary, Nidai, people are looking.]

But can you not yell so much? You might break Nee-san's eardrums next time you meet her if you do that.

If we can find anyone who isn't hostile on the way, we should gather information.

[They'll just have to find a target they can overpower, just in case.]

Ah, my bad, Saionji. I apologize. Sometimes, my manly spirit just overflows...! But I'll try to keep it in check from now on.

Have you all been doing well while you've been here? I haven't seen Koizumi yet.

[Even unarmed and pre-monstered, who wouldn't these two be able to overpower together, though?]

Agreed. Should we head towards those lights, then? I was following the shore before to see if anyone else was here before I left.

[He points towards the lights in the distance.]

I sure as hell hope you don't become a minotaur, then...

[He'd deafen himself and then he'd just yell even more.]

The yakuza found a castle so at least we've got a roof over our head. Tanaka looks like he's built a cult and Nee-san took it upon herself to help feed the idiot masses. I've even found a slave! [She means she found someone who probably would date her.]

So, yes, I think we're doing alright.

He nodded again slowly, kind of hoping they'd do something at all instead of, heaven forbid, just falling out of his guts. The teen brushed the hair from his face, hands clasped together.

"uh..." Robbie stuck a hand out to the other man. "I'm Robbie."

[And now it's about constipation?! The hits keep coming. More importantly, this guy is super intense...! Yuya's half-covering his ears at that shout. He can't help it, he's a weenie. But he takes a breath, since it seems he's misunderstanding something.]

It's okay! You can eat your veggies, no one's going to stop you!

[In fact, let's just take this pamphlet that's been shoved in his face with a frustrated look and a sigh. He really wishes those guys would stop touting it.]

This thing is... not very accurate. What we go through here isn't about a diet... Though it should be about keeping as many alive as we can, we can agree on that much.

[So, Nidai, you haven't met Koizumi yet! Allow me to change this for you - because the moment her sharp, Minotaur hearing picks up the sound of a classmate, this muscular beast of a girl just has to check it out and make sure he's alright.

And true to form, it's exactly who she expects, which means Nidai is being met with... most of a smile. It's a little hard to smile when you've got three foot tusks jutting out of your mouth.]

Nidai! ... You're not really putting stock in those phony pamphlets, are you?

[That's asked as she slows to a stop about a foot away from him, looking at the titles of the goofy brochures in his arms...
Please don't make her worry about you, Nidai. She gets that enough from the rest of the class that's here.]

[ It's not like he knows that many people from the PR department, and definitely not people as high up as Kajiwara. Usually, Doctors only got involved with the PR department if someone from it was going to document their activities, and Kajiwara had not been documenting the fifth dispatch unit during Kanata's one years as a captain. ]

It's fine if you do, no worries. I've read that some plants are poisonous but it's not like anything can beat the Shinigami.

[ There is no Doctor that does not hate the Shinigami Flower, and h's got a personal grudge, just like a lot of other Doctors. ]

Right? Apparently it's something about becoming monsters because of some fog, I need to learn more about it. If there's anything I can do to help against it I gotta do that. Kajiwara-han, are you good at collecting information outside the computer? I mean you're clearly good at it inside the computers [ he's seen the info you gather ] but I dunno if they have much in form of electricity an' stuff here.

[She looks surprised at first. Like she hadn't thought about that before it was brought up. Well, of course it would be hard to find something impossible if it had already happened. She thinks about it though.]

That's true... hmm...

[She shrugs. Not like she really understands this herself.]

Maybe it's like tsukumogami?

Okay, good--so the guy can stand, at least, and has the presence of mind to laugh. That's better than the alternative, anyway. Percy responds with a chuckle of his own, but pushes to his feet when he sees Shisui try to stand and holds out his arms to catch him, just in case he loses his footing.

"I kind of know what you mean," he offers, giving a weak smile. "I was the hero of a prophecy back home. Very long story. But if it helps any, I have known people who say they came here after their death. That's not what happened to me, but it's not unheard of."

When Shisui takes a step, Percy follows, arm still extended to catch him if he loses his footing. "Are you still feeling it? Your death, I mean. You can lean on me if you need to."

[It takes Nidai a second or two, but, oh--the camera. Of course!]

[Aaaaah, his classmates are all alive once more. For all this world's strangeness, it is good to see them walking around, going about their business, just like they tried to keep their spirits up on the island.]

You're looking well! I hope you've been taking care of your body properly, with muscles like that!

[- Well, she was going to greet him just as cheerfully, but then he had to go and mention The Minotaur Thing.]

A-ah, of course! But this is just - I mean, it's just part of being a Minotaur, you know!
I'd probably stay this way whether I bothered or not...

[Magic Muscles are a pain, man. She wouldn't wish them on anyone.
Except maybe Nidai, since he probably wouldn't change much.]

But, besides that - are you doing alright? The class that's here caught me up on everything, after all...
Tanaka told me about what happened between the two of you, specifically.

Fufufu...truly, it does my heart good to hear that. To know my classmates are doing so well...!

[He turns his face up towards the sky, fist clenched before his chest, but stops himself.]

Right, I said I'd contain myself. [He sniffs manfully. Also, grossly. There may be something glistening at the corner of his eye.] Everyone...I'm so proud of your accomplishments...!

Oh...so Tanaka told you, did he...

[Nidai turns away for a moment, but his smile when he looks at Koizumi is fierce and bright.]

No need to worry about me! I, Nidai Nekomaru, have been restored to my former self, and have another chance to live life to the fullest! I've never been in better spirits!

[His smile softens, proud and genuine.]

Truly, it's good to be back among my classmates, whatever the conditions.

[YOU CAN'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING A STRANGER HANDS YOU ON THE STREET, NIDAI!!!!]

Hahaha, I see! So I was mistaken. Still, any knowledge gleaned is a worthwhile investment! While I may not have the full truth about what my classmates and I should be eating, I have, at least, learned something about the local culture around it.

[He gives Yuya a once-over, and is apparently satisfied with what he sees.]

So! What's your name? I have to thank you properly for your advice.

[... Was he like this, back on the island? She's not sure she can remember it, but... then again, she did "die" rather early on.
It was like this with Kuzuryuu and Gundam, too; there's just so much about her classmates she apparently doesn't know...

Either way, it's nice to see him in such high spirits - though, he could do with turning down the volume a notch.
But that just means one thing. Before she says anything else, she's snapping a photo of Nidai, trying to capture that proud, soft smile of his; which gets mirrored when she lowers the camera to look at him again.]

... It really is nice to have you with us again. At least now I'll have a boy around who's actually reliable.
Tanaka and Kuzuryuu can be handy in some situations, but... they usually keep to themselves, you know?

[The photo op takes him by surprise, though it shouldn't. Somehow, that flash of normality, that return to those first days on the island, before they knew how bad things were going to get--somehow, that's what makes him understand that this is real. That they're alive.]

[He loves his class.]

As long as it's you, Koizumi, I think you'll see just how reliable men like Tanaka and Kuzuryuu really are! The visual acuity and observation of the Super High School Level Photographer is second to none!

[Nidai grins at her and pounds his chest.]

But you're right. For as long as I'm here, you can depend on me! I'll support you with everything I've got!!

Draco had only just been pushing himself up when a hand clamped around his arm and yanked him up the rest of the way. As if he hadn't been shocked all to hell already, his heart in his throat and his nerves practically on fire. He barely managed to catch the shriek before it escaped; instead, he merely squeaked in surprise.

"What are you doing?" He asked with a shocked gasp, trying to yank his arm free of the grip as he gaped, wide-eyed, at the other person there. On one hand, he wasn't alone. On the other hand, he had no idea what the hell was going on. "Who are you? This is your fault, isn't it?"

[ When it comes to high up, doctors are definitely higher up than the PR department. He's worked with creative means most of his life, and there's a whole lot of people who belittle the work they do. Sometimes it might not be to their faces, but when someone wants you to go in a whole different direction after you're done and want it finished in an hour? That's not a sign of respect for the hard work they do. ]

Def'nitely not. Nothin' can beat that.

[ He might not have had a personal grudge against the shinigami, but now... things had changed. The ship had been blown up, there had been shady things... He kind of missed Souma, and all his stupidity. ]

'm not nearly's good at it outside it, but 'll try. Their lack of tech really bums me out though. They dun even have internet.

Ayumu's mind was in a mess from the sight of plants and the only thing on his mind was the shinigami flowers. If they didn't get out of here in time they would get infected by the life eating plant and there didn't seem to be any doctors around here. There was no telling if they could get help from anyone once they were infected, and he had just been cleared from it.

He lost his grip on the boy, but tried to grab him again. "We need ta go! They're gunna kill us if we dun get outta here!"
