Rika Furude | Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

[When you walk in for whatever reason -- maybe you've rescued her from the beach, or were planning to eat her, or just have no idea why she's in your house -- a little girl is searching around frantically for something.]

--yuu?! Hurry up and come out! Hanyuu! This isn't funny!

[It takes a moment for her to notice the other occupant of the room. When she glances over her shoulder, Rika freezes, staring wide-eyed until she slowly straightens up and faces them. Her eyes dart around for a moment as if searching for an excuse.

And oh, is she ever.]

...Mii. [Her tone of voice changes dramatically from the shouting that might have been heard a few seconds ago; it's much more appropriate for her apparent age now. Until, of course, what comes next:] Are you going to eat me?

[Dyster somewhat reminds her of how Hinamizawa must be, decades after the Great Hinamizawa Disaster. Ghosts, cultists, and warped urban legends all brought into one. It certainly would make for a great setting for any sort of spiritual pursuit or ghost-hunting excursion. She'd probably be there haunting any tourists, too, if it weren't for the fact she's been too busy hopping back to start over again.

...It's cause for concern. Rika's heard the rumors about how the Fog God revives the dead monsters, out of sympathy or pity or torture, depending on who's talking. Even that she takes pieces of their memory... It's all too eerily similar.

It-- It couldn't be, could it? Hanyuu surely wouldn't abandon her and create a new game just to play a prank on her. Hinamizawa means too much to them both. But she has to know for sure.

She strolls up to someone else watching the dance, a fellow monster. There are already signs of spikes emerging from her shoulders, and her skin is a slight tinge of red.]

Excuse me. Did you die and get revived by the Fog God? I wanted to know if that's really possible...

[If she fishes for information like she's unfamiliar with it, maybe she can get some valuable insight into the nature of this god. And yet... it feels like she probably already knows, somehow.]

[On the other hand, the arcade is a bit more interesting. Rika's eyes light up at the sight of pinball machines flashing with exciting colors, and she runs over to take a look. If only the club could see this...! Okinomiya didn't even have any pachinko parlors, let alone a western-style pinball machine.

While the Fog God and her true nature holds more intrigue to her personally, she certainly won't decline the use of it while she's here. Letting herself go for the time being, she takes the hand of the nearest passerby and gives them her best playful-little-girl look.]

Will you play with me on the pinball machine?

[Rika is not the trap master of the club. That does not, however, mean she can't pick up a few tricks here and there.

There's a narrow overpass above an alley in Bavan that's frequently used as a shortcut between districts by those who know their way around. But now, it's blocked by a large sports goal net, one being suspended by a wooden dowel rod with a string tied around it; a classic box-and-stick trap, except the bait lies beyond the net in the form of a box of seemingly abandoned silver coins. More than likely, a monster could either bound or fly above it without trouble, but perhaps the perpetrator isn't looking to catch a monster... Either way, maybe you'd like to humor her and give it a whirl?

If you should choose to take the obvious route, which is either to kick the thing down or pull the string on it to topple it, there will be a strange clicking noise, followed by an ominous rolling sound. One might notice a bit too late that the string attached to the rod does not lead to any trickster waiting to pull it, but that the net itself also has a very well hidden string attached to it, attached to a gutter (among other things). Then, a very wide weighted net drops on top of you.

Or, perhaps it's not you in the trap, but a poor, unsuspecting human. Either way, feeling accomplished, a very small goblin emerges from a crack between the buildings behind you, clapping with amusement.]

Nipa~h! You fell for it!
