TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.


• The Reserve date is MAY 20ST 12:01AM EST.
• There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

That I wouldn't mind. I admit, I'm not exactly the kind of person who minds attention.

I worry about the kind I might get around here, though. If I'm honest.

[Jimmy lifts his head a little when Steve approaches, his vision swimming a bit from hitting the ground so hard.]

Finding yourself 'ahead' of the times here? [It's the best guess he has from that kind of worry-most that he's met are from a few decades after where this technology would have been seen after all.]

They're usually nice to me. Sometimes. [he probably has it the best when it comes to not being picked on, so he can't complain. but he can observe]

[With all of those things she can continue to be optimistic, but it won't work. There is nothing about monsters that are cute. Without bias, some look rather impressive. Without bias, his wings are colorful and bright and useful. Bias is something that doesn't impact Light's life in many ways - aside from the inability to see his main goal as wrong - but he really does want his human form back. Appearance made up so much of initial impressions.]

Having L dead wouldn't change rather or not he would be here. Somehow, even the dead come to life in Ryslig. [It's not the closest walk... and there is a chance that L will see them. Work is close enough that Light can get there by foot, or wing, tomorrow.]

But no, Rem likely wouldn't have come with you. This isn't the same as Tokyo, Misa. We were taken from Japan and put here, and nothing followed us.

[Instead of the main streets, he begins to lead her down an ally.] Ryuk isn't here either, and L was here long before me.

Good. It's a lot more fun when people aren't dead.

[At least he's fairly open with his interest. Eventually they'd change.. and he intended to have a list of people to visit when that began, the ones that would be the most interesting...

This haughty wizard seemed like he'd be extremely interesting to watch when the time came. What WOULD he become? A vampire? A furry trout? No, trout seemed like they'd be cold and bland people, not cold and interesting people..]

[This seems amusing somehow; he wouldn't have had to wait til he's given a name not so long ago. And now.. now he had to do it the human way!]

Well, welcome to the club I suppose. Coming from a time where 'virtual reality' and solid light existed, this has been quite the jump.

[And of course, Ryuk follows.

It was a pattern years in the making, one he was pretty comfortable with by now. Always behind, never quite in view, usually silent - but now there's the steady rap of shoes on cement and pavement where once there had only been the rustle of feathers.]

He can't prosecute you or whatever here. Or throw you in jail. It'd be his word against yours, and if all this about monsters is true, he's gonna be killin' people too.

[So wouldn't that be hypocrisy? He's almost but not quite certain of it, and that uncertainty's in his voice. But not for long!

Since he's behind, Light can't see him waggle an admonishing finger, but it's somehow implied in his tone.]

That's not a shinigami rule. That's a Ryuk rule. If I spoil everything it won't be fun watching you figure it all out yourself. And that was before you're some sort of immortal bug guy! Now that you can't die, it'll be even more interesting seeing what happens next.

[If Rem were ALSO back from the dead .. wow this was just a whole parade of dead people coming back to life, there had to be some sort of off switch that got broken or something.

For a moment he simply stares at Misa, considering all the dead people coming back and NOT her turning into a cute monster, but one might wonder which was really on his mind.

After a moment he blinks. That's something he'd never done before being human either. What were they talking about? Dances?]

Well, humans can be pretty freaky. I'm sure there's lots of people who'd like to see you dance all furry and stuff. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. No point in worrying about it too much yet.

[Luckily he's not all that fast in his new body. While he's not struggling to walk, suddenly having legs isn't easy for him. In addition, this place is so strange, and filled with so many stranger creatures that Kirby's search is slowed down by the fact there are so many things he doesn't recognise and he wants to stare at everything.

Steve looks a lot more like what Kirby was used to: still with the unfamiliar human shape, but with fur and wings. He hears the kind voice and he smiles waving both his arms at Steve.]

Hiiii! [Was he new?] Oah... Poyo!

[Well he wasn't expecting that but he's not going to complain. Kirby waves his arms happily as he's lifted up, higher than he was before. This was so cool! It was like sitting up in a tree.]

Poyo Poyyyy!

[He doesn't see anyone right now, really, not that he minds.]

[Kirby smiles as Poe gets down to a height he prefers. Most people are only like a head taller than him at home, bar King Dedede, and he hadn't been all too happy about the fact everyone here towered over him.

Poypoy! [He nods. Kirby's speech is less than satisfactory, but he understood most sentences.] Poyo! Poyo! [Understanding him might be harder, but he points to Poe, as if expecting he knew what he was saying. This man knew about planets.]

... as okay as anyone else is.

[ His strokes stop as Hotaru mentions Mikazuki, his smile fading slowly, replaced with a look of discontent. Tired, almost. Worry lines forming at the edges of his eyes and in the contemplative frown. ]

No. He disappeared not too long ago. Maybe a month ago? The hope is that he did return home, somehow.

[ Anything else would send Kogi into a spiral of despair. ]

[And if he were feeling better, he'd tack on something like "to be stuck with an ass like you", but it seems that he's retreated from his willingness to poke at Polnareff, at least for the moment. Surely it'll come back, sooner or later — but probably not while he's twisting to bury his face against Polnareff, seeking out the comfort of warmth and of not having to look at anything but true darkness for a little while.

He's quite warm, himself. He always is, and most people who touch him enjoy the sensation. There's fire inside him — a different kind of fire than that of his forefathers, but a fire nevertheless.]

Did we lose my mom? I don't know. I came here before I ever found out. In — when I'm from, I mean, did we...what happened to my mom?

[He's never actually met Holly. Strange, isn't it-- because of course, that was part of the reason everyone else had gone to Egypt. He's heard of her, and once he'd even heard her voice in the background when he was on the phone with Jotaro-- but he still has no real idea of what she looks like.

Irrelevant. But he thinks about it, idly, as he pushes his fingers through Jotaro's hair. He's still got on that stupid hat, and sometimes his fingers bump up against horns-- but it's still Jotaro curled against him, so that's all right.]

Healthy and happy in Japan. She, uh . . .

[And oh, what the hell:]

She's actually pretty damn happy now that she gets to be a grandmother.

[That makes Jotaro's relationship with Jolyne sound a lot nicer than it, in fact, is, but whatever.]

[He smiles.] The same to you, ma'am. I'm Subaki.

I'm not exactly normal myself at the moment. [He seems pained to admit even that much, to acknowledge the fact that the crystal like formations aren't just some decorations on his armor.]

We're still human, though. We can't forget that.

I suppose it does. [There's no shame in that. Many medics were men, after all. He doesn't know what those words mean but--]

Well, I did get it from the doctor herself. I paid for it myself as well so, I assume it is.
