- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The Reserve date is MARCH 25th 12:01AM EST.
- There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[HUFF. ... But her blush is already dying down, at least.
And on the horizon, a towering Japanese style castle can be seen - two separate buildings, one low to the ground and expansive, the other tall and foreboding, both surrounded by high, safe walls.
Once they cross through the castle's gates, she puts him on his feet, and waves for him to follow.]
... I stay in the palace. The rest of my friends prefer the keep.
[She waves toward the shorter building, and then the taller one, respectively.
The palace has the distinct sound of animals coming from it, too; and a small, white cat can be seen in one of the windows.]
no subject
[It's actually really impressive, and at first he can hardly believe that this was actually where Mahiru lived. No, where he was going to live! It also takes him a moment to regain his footing once she puts him down, but soon enough he's following her again, his gaze tracking the movement of her hand as they head towards the castle.]
A palace...how did you manage to find such a place to stay?
no subject
But surprisingly, he actually worked for it.
[Is that a jab toward Kuzuryuu? Probably.]
There's this horse demon called Tikbalang that you can request things from, and if you have enough of his coins, he'll give you a quest to get whatever you asked for.
Where the coins come from, I don't know.
[She steps onto the porch of the palace, and slides the door open as gently as she can; holding it open for him as he follows behind her.]
no subject
[...he can only hope that this yakuza friend of Mahiru's doesn't see straight through Karamatsu's uselessness and kick him out outright, but then again his luck has never been that good.]
Is that so...? Do the coins just appear, then?
[Because he sure as heck hasn't been working for anything lately, but how else would she not know where they come from?]
no subject
[Hello, Karamatsu, you are being greeted by a small, white kitten! Without a tail!!
She's mewing up at him to get picked up, with a lot of happy chirping thrown in for good measure.]
I have a few coins in my room, if you want to see them.
[It's not like the rest of the palace is very interesting, after all; mostly just her room, the rooms for Tanaka's animals, and... some dusty rooms that she really should get to.]
no subject
Since I'm already going to be here, I might as well know what they look like so I'll know when I see them!
[Oh, hi cat. Immediately, Karamatsu imagines that Ichimatsu would have abandoned this conversation for the cat, but fortunately he's not quite as much of a cat person. He does pause to give the kitten a few quick pats though.]
Is this little one yours?
no subject
[Hana appreciates the pats!! And might try climbing his pant leg for some attention.]
... You can just carry her, she likes being picked up.
[And Mahiru can't help smiling a bit at what's happening, too. Because let's be real, it's pretty cute.]
My room's just down the hall, here... there's a lot of empty rooms in this building, too, so you're free to pick the one you like.
no subject
That, and he'd rather not have his pants clawed up today, thanks.]
I'm not too particular about where I go. Any place will suit my needs just fine!
[Hell, he'd sleep on the roof if he had to. ...he'd probably like that, actually.]
...but I would not mind a room not far from yours.
no subject
Now you're just a huge nerd.]
In that case, you can follow me.
I guess I don't mind you picking out a room near mine, as long as you don't wake me up in the middle of the night or something.
[Let's head down the hall then!! Her room's just down that way, to the right...
And it's actually kind of barren, for a bedroom. A dresser and a futon, with a handful of polaroid photos decorating the walls.]
Well. This is my room; the coins are on my dresser, if you want to look at them.
The room across the hall's empty, but the other two in this hall are for the birds and the reptiles.
Other than that... Make yourself at home, I guess.
If you want, you could probably stay in the keep instead... It's better furnished, and a lot livelier.
no subject
[Well obviously this is the perfect time to flirt!! Girls love cats! It's the perfect strategy. One that he wonders why Ichimatsu doesn't take advantage of...but then again, he loves cats more than he does people.
Karamatsu steps into the room while Mahiru talks, letting his eyes fall on the coins she'd pointed out previously. Hopefully he'll be seeing some of those himself soon enough...because he would very much like to have his guitar back. Because priorities.]
Non non...I'm perfectly content staying here.
[He meant what he said when he said he wanted to be near Mahiru, and all. That, and he doesn't really...know anyone else...]
no subject
In that case... We could get your room set up?
It's not like my room has anything interesting to do.
Or I could show you around the grounds, I guess.
[The palace is decidedly Boring, sorry Karamatsu.]
no subject
[As a boring and uninteresting person, he relates to this palace on a deeply emotional level.]
I do not have a single thing to my name other than the clothes on my back.
[He says that shockingly casually, like he's just accepted this at this point. He'd kill to have a mirror, though...]
So...my room will likely be bare for a while regardless. A tour, then, perhaps?
no subject
[Translation: "I subsist entirely off of odd jobs so I have no stable income to buy you stuff with".
ANYWAY
Let's go... back out of the palace!!]
I should probably show you the keep, at least; my friends are probably off doing whatever, so you don't have to worry about running into them.
Some of them could be a little...
Intense.
[And she doesn't want Karamatsu flirting with Sonia. Or Nanami. Or Ibuki...]
The keep is where everything else is, after all. The TV, the baths, the kitchen...
Ah, the dojo, too.
no subject
Karamatsu adjusts the kitten in his arms, continually amazed by just how much of this place there is.]
"Extravagant".
[There's that horrible English again.]
If everything is there, why have you decided to stay here?
no subject
As for staying in the palace...]
... I just like my space, that's all.
[Well, it's not a lie?? She does enjoy the solitude.
Hana's going to meow up at him in his arms, then, and maybe lick his hand. Because it's there, and she can.
And Mahiru's going to lead him back out the palace, past the garden - the... hideously dead garden.]
As you can see, we've got a garden area. But that's all it is, really... just the area.
The dirt's not really suitable for growing anything just yet.
[Sadly. ... And next to the garden seems to be a watchtower that... doesn't have a door.]
no subject
[He'll never stop, he's in too deep. Maybe if he actually learns English properly one of these days, as opposed to just being able to spout random words and phrases that he just happens to like the sound of. But wanting space...he can understand that. After all, living with five brothers does that to you, no matter how much you long for their attention and acceptance.
...but anyway.
Karamatsu looks over at the garden as they pass it, and the first thing he finds himself thinking is that his mother would love to have a little area like that to plant flowers. Perhaps if they had a bigger house, more space and an actual yard...
He shakes his head a little, snapping back to the present as Mahiru continues on. He hadn't realized he'd been lagging behind a little until her voice had begun to trail off, prompting him to hurry and catch up with her.
Ah. Maybe he's feeling just a touch homesick. But he can't dwell on it now. His attention is needed elsewhere.]
It could use some sprucing, perhaps...but it has the potential to harbor something beautiful.
no subject
I wouldn't mind having a vegetable garden, myself.
[From there is a large courtyard, ending with a covered area that separates the palace, keep, and temple.
Hana's probably going to wiggle in his hold a little... only to climb up onto his shoulder.
She's a leather jacket kind of cat, apparently.]
... There's a temple with a pond over that way, but the temple's pretty run down...
I plan on cleaning the pond someday soon, at least. I'm not sure about the temple itself, though.
no subject
[Well, she's more than welcome to ride up there. It frees his arms so he can put his hands in his pockets. Just don't get too loose with the claws and he'll be just fine with it.]
This is like a regular community, all on its own...
[He muses, continuing to look around as Mahiru mentions the different areas of the keep.]
For a world with a monster epidemic, you have a nice place here. If it were me...well. I would be hard pressed to want to leave.
1/2
[A beat.]
- Ah, the castle, I mean! Because of... the hunters. Y'know.
[Nice save, Mahiru. 10/10.]
no subject
And to think, it was basically just those boys on their own! I'm surprised they didn't die.
[SCOFF. Yes, let's talk smack about the guys behind their back, that's what she'll do.]
... The keep's up this little path, here.
[It's on its own little hill. Which might be why it seems so tall, other than the fact that it has six floors.]
no subject
Heh. You don't give boys enough credit, Koizumi~
no subject
Only to stop just short.]
... Ah, I forgot you had Hana.
[Aaand she pulls her hand back. You're safe for now, Karamatsu.]
But... if you ask me, I give boys too much credit.
Guys are no-good, they don't take care of themselves, and they're always lazy.
I just - ugh.
[UGH, KARAMATSU. UGH. Don't even get her started.
You don't want her life story, man.]
C'mon, I might as well show you the living room, since that's where the other boys spend all their time.
[Good job ruining this for yourself, Karamatsu. Now she's her usual amount of grouchiness!!]
no subject
[Oops. Thanks for saving his life, Hana, he knew he liked you for a reason. And it's sortof hard to empathize with her plight because, well. He is a boy. ...and he can't really argue with a single thing she claimed, because in his case, it's all true.
He keeps on following along, lifting a hand to adjust his sunglasses again. Okay, he can salvage this.]
Please! I would love to see everything, even if I am not to stay here.
[He's probably going to get a taste of why the boys stay down here and regret his earlier decision, but...he's going to try and stick with it. He'll still be near Mahiru, so there's that!]
But at least you do have most of that area in the palace to yourself. Your space, as you say...right?
hello have a 3ds tag
[So, that's part of why she stays there alone.
Part of, being the keywords there.]
C'mon in, I guess.
Take off your shoes, of course; the keep's a lot cleaner than the palace, and we'd like it to stay that way.
[Opening the door to the grand building, and it's... definitely nicer than the palace.
Not a speck off dust, and way more furnished.]
no subject
[Karamatsu nods, toeing off his shoes as requested. That part's habitual at this point, given the fact that they always did the same back home. Group of rowdy brothers they may be, some things were just ingrained in them from a very young age. All the while, Karamatsu found his curiosity about this place to be growing by the minute. Imagine his luck, getting to stay here! What would his brothers say, if they could see?
Would they notice?]
Perhaps they prefer to sacrifice the space for the extra company, hmm?
[Karamatsu could see the appeal. After all, it doesn't take long to become lonely.]
