In spite of the fact that L has no shortage of false names in his arsenal, he's fairly deliberate about which ones he chooses. It's no accident that the one he used to call out Kira first is the one he opted to use in Ryslig, because a significant part of him always believed in the possibility of Light eventually showing up.

Seemingly, he wasn't wrong to.

He nods stiffly. "Good... yes, I think that word is an appropriate one, under the circumstances. It's not good that either of us are here, of course, but... there is worse company to keep if it's inevitable."

And it IS inevitable.

"I remember, but as ever, I will simply call you Light. But I have to ask... why didn't you think you'd see me again? That's an odd thing to say. You speak as though something happened to me," L says.
