Light comes from a life of material comfort, one where needs have never been in question and wants are always easily accommodated. He's the sort of person who thinks nothing about spending thousands of yen on a miniature television to be used once and discarded in the next day's trash. Paper pamphlets are as meaningless and throwaway as any object that passes through his hands.

"Thanks for your help," he says, with a well-practiced note of affability. You'd be better off minding your own business, he thinks. "That sounds like you must have had a hard time on that island."
