Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[...Wow. Even Hiccup was prone to that level of dramatics, was he? It definitely gets Astrid to stop and listen, though her curiosity turns into a slight scowl.]

Oh, come on. [Unwilling as she was to go back towards the hospital, Astrid takes a few steps closer to Ritsu, arms crossing.] Surely she knows how to defend herself. She'll be fine until we can find her.

[...What is she signing herself up for, here... She had her own friends to find, after all.]

Eh?!

[Achievement unlocked: Get someone's attention using over the top theatrics! She pauses for a second, turning to look at Astrid. She isn't about to cut the act just yet - she just has to draw it out for a little bit longer.]

Ah, no, I'm afraid that's not true! Right now, she is probably huddled up in a corner, scared and all alone. A single tear rolls down her cheek and... [She trails off, sniffling like someone trying to fight back tears.] I can see it now. It's terrible!

...You're kidding.

[NO, REALLY. SHE MUST BE KIDDING.]

What kind of person doesn't know to take care of themselves? You have to tell her to be stronger than that -- especially in a strange place like this.

[Astrid eyes Ritsu up. She looked pretty flimsy, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. Astrid was petite herself, after all.]

Please tell me you can hold your own, at least.

Not even a little bit...

[This time, Ritsu gives a soft sigh. She really is worried about Mio. Ritsu may be acting over the top, but her prediction on how her friend might be feeling isn't all that far from the truth. That is, assuming she's actually in Vandare.]

I know, I know. I'm trying! [Yes, Ritsu. You're trying to help her by scaring the shit out of her all the time. Most awesome friend.]

Of course I can! Who do you think I am?! [Translation: No. No, she cannot.]

[What's sad is that Astrid might actually approve of Ritsu's methods.]

Hmn. [...Yeah, she's not sure she trusts that defensive answer. Well, she couldn't in good conscience leave this one alone in a strange place...] Fine.

I'll help you look for your friend -- but. We have to keep an eye out for mine, too. He's not as helpless as this Mio, but let's just say that he has a way of falling into trouble.

It's a deal! [She can't help grinning. Seriously, she's glad to help, if it means getting some help in return. Mio isn't the only one she worries about.]
