TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on a hard cot in an unfamiliar room, still thoroughly drenched from your arrival. There's salt water all over you, stinging your shallow wounds and making every breeze feel like ice against your skin, and before you have time to adjust to the new environment some... thing walks in. Something that used to be human. There's really no other word to describe it - they're a monster, pure and simple.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Maybe it's the snowcapped and solitary mountain to the north, or the vast and uncaring sea to the south. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ Bungo is starting to really hate water. Not that there was anything wrong with water or that it was a scary thing or anything but he was so fucking fed up with getting drenched so often, it was a complete pain in the ass. The stinging of his wounds hardly matters, he's been way worse. But at least the wound that the asshole Heibe gave him has healed up so his chest isn't on fire.

This though. What the hell? What the hell is this shit? That's not a person, that's for sure. ]

What the fuck?

[ And his weapons - all his weapons - are gone! Sure, he loves to fight but he prefers to do so with weapons. Not that he can't fight unarmed. ]

[ He doesn't get it. Eat people? Sure, in a pinch they might need to do it and he would be down with it if Iga got into that kind of desperate state, but he doesn't do it otherwise. ]

Shut it! [ He snaps in irritation. They're trying to pile too much of this shit on him. Also, all this fuss is serving to piss him off further. ] I'm not a fucking youkai, you shittyassed fuckface!

[ Some sort of mind controlling jutsu? He feels like that's somehow wrong, but he doesn't have any other explanation for it.

No matter what it was that brought him to this exact spot, he's not sure what he thinks. There's so much fire and so many people dancing. Dancing? Why are they dancing around the fires? It's not like they're having a drinking and brawling party, he can tell that much.

He scoffs. ]

Where the hell're the fights?

[It's the most curious thing, watching people awaken here for the first time. He has to wonder what makes the fog god decide on one method from the next with each group of arrivals. Perhaps it all comes down to what's easier for her. He prefers his own arrival by boat - a much grander entrance.

In any case, he doesn't particularly want to be the one who has to give an explanation of everything to this kid. He'd just let his curiosity get the best of him and had decided to wander through where it seemed like they were waking. At least there are worse creatures he could be running into immediately upon arrival.]

Don't panic too much. It won't get you anywhere.

[ Bungo scowls deeply at the stranger, and once he's over his initial shock and has collected himself, he steps closer, not bothering to hide the annoyance he's feeling as he glares up at this unfamiliar person. ]

Panic? Who's panicking? I'm pissed! Are you insulting me!?

That depends. Do you find my presence an insult?

[Mello keeps his wings folded over his shoulders, as they take up too much space in the room otherwise, especially now that he wants to lean up against the door frame. An angry reaction is better than frightened screaming.

And the immediate defensiveness is amusing.]

Your assumption that I'd be panicking is.

[ Isn't that the same? If he had been paid he would pretend to not find his words or presence to be insulting, and he could pretend to tolerate him, of course, but since he wasn't, he didn't have to tolerate him. ]

Well, many do. Waking up in a strange place with no memory of how you got there is more than a little jarring.

[And seeing monsters more so, at least for most. This guy didn't seem to have any problem with the way he looked, which said something about the world he came from. The experience is a lot easier for some than others.]

Sorry if I offended you.

[He says this out of courtesy, of course. He's not actually sorry.]

You did offend me. Honestly, I'm no damn weakling that'd freak out over some random youkai or whatever.

[ He's Iga, he's a retainer of Momochi Sandayuu, and he might not be the strongest within his rank (damn Mumon) but he wasn't weak. ]

Good to know. You won't have much trouble here, then.

[Until he does. While he might be fine with the sight of a monster, turning into one id typically a whole different experience. But who knows? Maybe he's the type who'll enjoy that.

Feeling like he's said enough, Mello then turns to leave the new arrival to his own devices. After all, he has everything under control, right?]

[ Unfortunately for Mello, Bungo isn't entirely done with him yet. ]

Hey, where is "here" anyway? Because it's definitely not Japan.

[ That's easy to tell, at least. But he would think modern Japan was foreign land, too. ]

[Mello stops, looking back over his shoulder.]

It's the Ryslig peninsula. I couldn't tell you what country it's part of, if any.

[Or if they're still on earth. Or if there's any other land around them at all.]

[ Oh yeah, it's so not Japan.

He scowls. ]

"If any"?

[Some ninja. Some too loud ninja, or so it seems. Why must everyone here insist on shrieking and shouting?! It's irritating.]

If what people here say is true, we will 'change' into some demons or monsters or yokai that do eat others.

However, I'm still not certain I'd believe in such a thing. I haven't changed yet. And I'm not planning on changing, if that would shame my Lord.

[ Ugh, samurai. He doesn't need to deal with samurai at the same time as he is in a completely new place. ]

Maybe you're just disliked by whatever does it.

[ He doesn't know what causes it or how fast it happens or how long the samurai's been around but still. ]
