TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on a hard cot in an unfamiliar room, still thoroughly drenched from your arrival. There's salt water all over you, stinging your shallow wounds and making every breeze feel like ice against your skin, and before you have time to adjust to the new environment some... thing walks in. Something that used to be human. There's really no other word to describe it - they're a monster, pure and simple.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Maybe it's the snowcapped and solitary mountain to the north, or the vast and uncaring sea to the south. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

As far as first impressions go, Kaito makes for a rather memorable one. With blue skin, curving bone spines on elbows and shoulders, and short, curving claws tipping his fingers instead of blunt nails, there's little about him to suggest he's human. He pauses in the doorway when he spots her, a warm towel held by one of his four hands. Surprise quickly turns to amusement.

"I think those roses are more dangerous than you right now."

"I'll - I'll throw it -" Her eyes widen as she takes in the… the man?… stood before her. But she doesn't want to be rude either.

"Did you bring me here… Sir?" She says, as grandly as she can for being squashed into a corner clutching a vase. "I demand that you… you, um… return me at once."

He spreads his hands to show he's (apparently) unarmed. Well, save for the towel. Can't do much with that towel though; it's not even wet. Kaito shifts away from the door to lessen the feeling that he's trying to block her way out. It's what he'd do if he were confronting himself.

"Kind of," he says slowly. "I brought you here but I didn't bring you...here." One of the hands gestures vaguely around them and it's accompanied by a grin filled with sharp teeth. "To the peninsula, I mean."

Wait - what?

Slowly, she advances on Kaito, still clutching her vase.

"What peninsula? How did we leave the tower? What about - Mother!"

She exclaims the name in a sort of moan. "Oh my - what must she be thinking? She must be wondering where I've gone. How will I get back? Where am I?"

"'We'?"

He's pretty sure she arrived alone. Kaito frowns at her and is about to ask further but her exclamation brings him up short. Now the frown is more concerned. She's still young, from what he can see.

"Like I said, it's a peninsula," he explains. "Wherever you're from, you're no longer there. This place is called Ryslig."

Kaito slowly lowers his hands. It doesn't seem like she'll attack him but... He holds out the towel. "How about you dry yourself off first? You're gonna catch a cold otherwise."
