TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
• The reserve date is 11/27.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[It must be that time again, when new arrivals, well, arrived and got themselves lost in the woods. This wasn't the first time he'd found someone out there, but it was the first time he'd heard a familiar voice.

Pushing his way through the underbrush, nearly tripping over his tail and hooves in his haste. He only needed to get one good look at Mike though to realize he'd been mistaken, and his shoulders drooped a little. He stayed a decent distance away, at least.]

What's wrong with being a bear? [That was what he had been, before becoming a demon, and he'd been quite fond of being a bear.]

[ Okay, so this isn't a bear. Not at all. It's just a guy? Or so Mike thinks for about two seconds before he sees hooves. And tails. And weirdness that only serves to put him even more on his guard. He even only glances away for quick seconds at a time, trying to find something sharp or heavy if he needs to. ]

Nothing compared to ... to — what the fuck, man!? What is- what's happening there? I mean, are you okay? Nevermind, just stay back.

[cryogenics]

[Bucky stayed where he was, wings shifting uneasily.]

I'm not going to hurt you; I promise. [And he didn't make promises unless he was convinced he could keep them.] I'm a demon, but I wasn't always. I was--human. Like you.

[kamachete]

[ Meanwhile Mike's inner mantra right now is "Stay there, stay there, stay there". ]

Right ... that's what the last scary monster in the forest told me.

[ Ok that was a terrible comment. ] Anyway ... what are you talking about? Like you were bitten by one?

[cryogenics]

[It wasn't like Bucky was going to leap at him, honest. He didn't even eat meat anymore. ...Though he didn't think mentioning that he fed on souls would help, either.]

Bitten? What? No. There was a mountain. [And he'd gone in the stupid hole when he shouldn't have.] I was a bear before. And human before that. This place changes people.

[kamachete]

[ Mike likes his meat and his soul where they are, currently. He's still not sure if this guy is like okay in the head or if he's telling the truth. Or maybe he knows it's the truth and he's just in denial. Everyone's been talking about the monsters and the changing. It's creepy. ]

A mountain. So you went to this mountain, as a bear, and you came off of it as a demon. But you're actually a human. Am I getting that right?

[cryogenics]

Yes. I know how it sounds. [He really did. Everything about this place sounded crazy to explain, and he knew it was hard for people to accept it. He'd spent over a month in denial about various things.]

It happened to a lot of people, going in as one thing and coming out as another. But everyone changes here, without the mountain.

[kamachete]

Right...

[ He squints, frowning as he thinks this all over. It's a lot to take in, crazy or not. ]


Did you at least get to pick? I mean, they aren't going to turn me into something like unicorn or, or... a wendigo, are they? Not that I'm on board with this, I'm just saying. Hypothetically.

[cryogenics]

[Just give him a moment to imagine someone turning into a unicorn. That almost sounded like it might not be too bad.]

We don't have a choice. [If he had, he might have gone with something different.] I know some wendigos though. They're not too bad. [Just cold.]

[kamachete]

[ Actually it probably wouldn't be, if you could keep your manly dignity too. ]

Great. [ and he looks all but nauseated at the thought of wendigos being here. Seriously? Like seriously. He just got over them. And to hear they're not that bad? ] Buddy. I don't know what you've been smoking but there's no such thing as a not too bad wendigo.

[cryogenics]

[He frowned in confusion.]

They're just like everyone else. [Here, at least.] They're just cold. And the antlers are probably a pain in the ass. [They ate people, just like all of the other monsters, but Bucky didn't think they could really be judged for that.]
