TEST DRIVE: NOVMEMEBER (get it because it's a meme)

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The reserve date is 11/27.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
Haru Igarashi | zettai kaikyuu gakuen
[ Haru is far from used to people being nice to him. And with what has just happened in his own world? He's not up for people treating him like he's some kind of animal, or becoming one.
Books however, he likes, even if they aren't artbooks as he's much more enthusiastic about art than he is books. He can take the pamphlets to read, no problem. Hopefully no one will beat him up for having something that isn't really his, but. Well. He'll deal with that when it happens. ]
Human flesh, what?
[ It's meant more to himself than anyone else. ]
But I don't eat human flesh...
[ So why would he need a pamphlet on it? ]
scenario four: manticore
[ Never mind that the changes had been scary and painful. Now he's being chased by strangers and he doesn't even know why?
The scorpion's tail and the wings makes him feel oddly heavy at the back, and he doesn't feel very steady. He stumbles, almost falls backwards, stumbles over a tree root and falls face first into a tree.
Shit! He has no idea what to do here, and suddenly he's cornered as soon as he turns around, back to the trunk of the tree. Sort of. He's forgotten that maybe he can fly. He hasn't tried yet. ]
I didn't do anything!
1
Some people do though. Eat humans, I mean.
[Like everybody? Yeah.]
Re: 1
Yeah, cannibals do. But I'm not a cannibal.
[ A beat. ]
What the hell?
no subject
[Also a beat.]
What do you mean, what?
no subject
What the hell are you?!
[ He's not human! ]
no subject
...Sigh.]
Um. I'm a...harpy? Probably.
no subject
[ He takes a wary step backwards. ]

[Why is this guy backing away!! He hasn't even done anything, is he that scary...Yue actually looks down at himself, just in case he got some more new changes he didn't notice, but... :(]

How can you not have heard of harpies before...?

They just hope you won't eat them, you know? It's an inevitability. [ Kogi shakes his head, doggy ears twitching. ] Of course, you may not eat their flesh! You might take their souls or their blood.
Re: 1
What. Why would I eat them.
no subject
Hunger. A different kind of hunger. It's not one sated by cakes or meats or tea. It's unnatural and over time, unavoidable.
no subject
Haru likes animals.
But this guy looks like a person too. What, why? ]
What are you talking about?
no subject
[ At least the brochures are useful in telling the readers what their futures may look like. ]
Once, I was a sword. Then I woke up here on a mountain as a human. Now I am a beast, of sorts.
[ Kogi wiggles his ears. He's trying to stay a little optimistic. ]
no subject
That doesn't even make any sense. Swords aren't alive.
no subject
[ And he gestures to himself. At least he's a little proud of himself, being so close to his namesake. ]
Unless you think I'm fake? And then I could show you that I'm not.
[ Toothy grin. Pointy, toothy grin. ]
no subject
No thanks. You might try to eat me.

But it had not impaired on his ability to fight very much; he was still the greatest swordsman in Fanyang and very capable in martial arts, and he also still hated when people hurt others for no reason.
Which was why he got in between the angry mob and their prey. ]
What do you think you're doing?
[ He gave the mob a glare. ]
Re: 4
He stared between the stranger and the mob, not sure what to do, and still too surrounded to escape. Maybe if he stayed silent he would finally turn invisible.
But some members of the group turned to Zhao Yun, while the others closed in on Haru. He pressed up against the tree, trying to inch around its trunk but someone stabbed a weapon into the trunk right beside him, making his breath hitch.
Shitshitshitshit...! He's going to die. ]
Re: 4
The rebel cut through the weapons pointed at him with one fell swoop of the simple sword that he had managed to acquire for himself. It wasn't as comfortable in his hand as his usual long swords, but it was enough. The men who had just lost their tools paled considerably, clearly expecting to be cut down as well, but Zhao Yun ignored them for the moment.
Instead he turned on his heel, ramming the butt of the hilt into the side of one of the mob members neck, so that the much bigger man passed out. It was one of those closest to the unarmed kid, and it made the other mob members freeze and regard him. Zhao Yun hardly looked as strong as he actually was, even with monster traits. ]
One does not attack someone who is unarmed, nor someone who is not looking for a fight. It is despicable.
Re: 4
One of the larger members of the mob move his knife to press against Haru's throat. ]
Come any closer and I'm slitting this monster's throat!
Re: 4
He could cut off the man's knife hand, but he didn't want to hurt civilians. On the other hand, these villagers were acting like mere ruffians at the moment.
But he didn't know what the boy might do. A scorpion stung, it was its nature. If he got too distressed, would he do so by accident?
He sighed. ] You are being foolish. I could take your head off before you even have the chance to move your wrist. Are you really prepared to lay down your life for nicking someone who has not done any harm?
Re: 4
He just hoped they would stick to kicks and punches instead.
His tail was shaking, the rest of his body stiff as a board. What should he do? What could he do? His only weapon was sarcasm, and that wouldn't help at all in a situation like this.
He should... say something. Anything that wouldn't piss anyone off. ]
I just wanted to paint the place, I won't do it again if you don't like it, just take that thing away from me. Please.
Re: 4
He turned a sharp glare at the villagers. ]
Leave.
Re: 4
Haru's own body was stiff and he backed away from the stranger who saved him as the men left. ]
