TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
• The reserve date is 9/26.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR (New):The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[Riley was honestly in disbelief over this whole thing. Maybe it was just a bad dream? But she's taking the pamphlets anyway, not reading them, up until she saw "Bunnyipyips And You". That one got her attention, and even if it may not be a real one, she's still reading it. ]

Aw... Bunnyipyips sound cute...

[Or as cute something from a bad dream can sound. She is trying to be positive about the situation because bad dreams really need to have some positivity.]

TWO

[Why did Riley wander into the woods again? She heard the laughter, and it was something that caught her attention pretty quickly—and hey, laughter is good! ... Right? Either way, she's wandering around lost now and she just can't find her way out of the woods.]

Hello!? Is anyone there? I think I'm lost!

[He stepped in hoping he'd be able to find his way out but then he heard Riley shouting out and knew first step was find her then find a way out]

Riley?!

[He made sure he was loud enough to be heard. She sounded close, but how close was close? He felt like he had been walking in circles here]

[Lucas' voice does make her stop moving for a second, because she knows that voice which means he has to be somewhere nearby. Once she thinks she has an idea on where his voice is coming from, she takes off in that direction to try to find him as soon as possible]

Lucas!? Lucas, where are you!?

Uh... No clue! Just keep talkin' and I'll find you!

[He's getting closer even as he talks.]

Did you hear the laughing too?

[She calls out, still following the sound of his voice—anything to keep the conversation up so they can find each other.]

Yeah, I did. I thought there was a little kid playin' in the woods and it doesn't exactly seem like a good idea.

[He paused where he was walking as he saw eyes in the bushes and then immediately moved against toward Riley's voice and where it was coming from again. Hearing things and seeing them without a single item to protect himself or Riley.]

[ Shawn is desperately trying to ignore the fact that, without her parents here, it falls to him to keep Riley out of trouble and out of danger. He's not Jonathan Turner! He's not even a Mr Feeny. How is he supposed to do that? Blind luck? ]

You are not allowed to turn into a bunnyip. Your mother would never forgive me.

But Uncle Shawn, Bunnyipyips are adorable!

[She protests a little, but she doesn't really want to turn into one either. She is perfectly happy as a human being.]

Show me the picture. [ He's sure there's a picture. ]

[She presents the pamphlet to him, showing him the artwork—it's a messy drawing that doesn't look like it could be accurate and the pamphlet itself doesn't look very official.]

There.

[ He peers at the drawing. ]

...are those fangs?

[Good news for Riley--or, well, both of them really--is that it's daylight right now. It doesn't change much for getting around the woods, but it does at least mean that most of the things around won't eat her.

...Except, well. Whatever is on the other end of that laughter. As the voice from above in the trees is about to point out. It's hard to tell, but whoever is up there, they're definitely no older than 12. His hair is braided into a series of locks, and he looks down with a rather toothy smile--not that those sorts of details are going to be easy to pick up from this distance.] Wouldn't be following those voices if I were you love. You'll find yourself even more lost than you started!

SHE IS DEFINITELY TALLER, at least 5'5" :'D

[She kind of just squints at him, a bit unsure, but she can't really deny that that has been what's happening as time's gone on either.]

Ehhh... [He just shrugs, grinning.] Maybe, maybe not. I've been around long enough to know that following laughter in the woods isn't the best idea though, love.

He's hopping down from that height! .......Annnnd grimacing on the landing because ow he keeps forgetting he can't take those jumps quite the same.

Still. Time to shrug that off.] That's just a lure, love--follow those things, and you're guaranteed to be on someone's menu before the next morning.

Bunnyip.. ..? [There is a quiet, almost monotone voice from near where Riley is sitting, just a small child's voice.

...

Said child seems a bit, um... ...Dead. And monstery.

Don't scream, that will hurt his ears.]

[She glances over when she hears the voice... and then proceeds to stare because she was not expecting to see anything like him, though she does respond and she tries to do so fairly politely.]

Um. Hi.

[Whatever you do Riley, do not meet the deer's eyes. It's a very bad idea.] ....H'llo...

[...Fortunately he makes it very easy, since he immediately looks back to the pamphlets.] ....w...

...what's a... ...bunnyip... ...? [He seems rather hesitant to ask at all, sadly. As if he thinks he might get in trouble for not knowing.]

[She stops staring relatively quick with how he's acting because Riley, that's just rude. She holds the pamphlet out to him to show him.]

It's a bunny monster. I think.

Oh. [He stares at it a bit, before frowning a little, ears swiveling and fur fluffing a bit to match the confused emotion.] ...n...never saw one...

...just normal rabbits...

[.....Which he ate.

[Riley's being herself, walking along minding her own business and reading about bunny rabbit monsters. It's adorable.

It's also about to be totally over because there is a Manticore pouncing right the hell now.

Maya took enough care to be sure it would be a soft enough landing on a bed of grass. BUT BFF YOU'RE HERE and the only way to express this is via bodyslam.]

[Riley was not prepared for that. She'd been so engrossed in whatever she was doing that the moment Maya pounces on her, she has no idea what's going on until she's flat on the ground with a manticore on top of her.

What's going on why is this happening, her brain hasn't processed it just yet.]
