TEST DRIVE SEPTEMBER EDITION

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The reserve date is 9/26.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR (New):The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
I
From the crowd steps a large man, slightly taller due to his arachnid legs, but just about as muscular, though it's hidden by a heavy coat. He shows no fear at the woman; he actually smirks. There are others like him with strange body parts here and there, but he's one of the few arachnes around, his lower half completely that of a deadly funnel-web spider.]
Temper, temper. You'll scare away all the humans.
[He's one to talk.]
no subject
I only need one.
[ The crowd takes this as the blanket permission to haul ass that it functionally is, scattering and slinking away from her in equal measures, while she ignores them and focuses on the newcomer instead. She seems entirely unfazed by his spider half, though her yellow eyes scan it and the rest of AM in evaluation. Even discounting that until about an hour ago she was a giant green hand centipede, one of the things she did pick up from the onslaught of chatter was the repeated mention of "monsters", and she's seen plenty of equally grotesque things in her time. Either the creature addressing her is some kind of mutant, or it's as foreign to this awful planet as she is... ]
Not so fast--
[ And she puts this consideration on hold while she takes one giant stride forward and grabs the last remaining human in her vicinity by the arm. It's the apple guy! He dangles miserably, on tiptoe, as if she's holding a rag doll. If whatever this thing is doesn't oblige her, she still needs a fallback information source. ]
And what are you supposed to be?
no subject
He takes a pointed look at that apple guy, as if the man is just an object. And then back at the woman.]
There are many answers, but I'm assuming you're referring to my arachnid appearance.
[He laughs quietly to himself. This should get an interesting reaction out of this hothead.]
You're in a realm of monsters, my dear. And you'll soon become one.
no subject
What?
[ She can't exactly dismiss it as ridiculous, though, can she? Apple guy moans pitifully. Nobody else in this thread notices or cares. ]
Explain yourself.
no subject
Or she has a spray tan.At least, if her behavior wasn't a fair giveaway.]There are humans... [He gestures to the apple guy.] ...And there are monsters. [He gestures to himself.] ...And there are humans who will become monsters. [He gestures to the woman.]
Or, whatever you are. But you look human enough, I suppose.
no subject
Jersey Shoregemkind against comparisons to humanity. ] It's an embarrassing coincidence.[ But the general message he's trying to convey has been received, though she has no idea what to do with it. She's got to ask more questions to determine whether or not he's just fucking with her and spider people are a natural part of the ecosystem, not to mention get more intel if this is in fact the truth, but it's not as though she's stupid enough to tell a complete stranger that what he's looking at is nothing but a projection. ]
And what of the ones who don't look human enough?
no subject
[He tilts his head slightly, a mannerism almost too stiff to seem natural. There are still minute gestures that AM makes that seem almost off, that would make one feel that something may not be quite right.]
There are some who looked rather different before coming here. But they were all turned human for the pleasure of a god lacking in creativity.
[He snorts a slight laugh.] I don't know what you are, but your body functions like that of a human's now. How sad.
