JULY TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

  • You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
  • We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
  • Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
  • The reserve date has been announced .
  • Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
  • NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins per bonus coin group (so 6 total) by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.

SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ well, there's a familiar sound. it's not so much the eloquence as the confusion; having been here all of a year at this point, madoka knows a newcomer when she hears one. or sees one, for that matter - she's got grey skin, yellow eyes, and if madoka hadn't seen another one of these aliens way back when, she'd probably have assumed the changes had already gone through.

but even if she's an alien, that doesn't mean madoka can't help - especially if she's getting handed some of the less useful pamphlets. madoka approaches the girl through the crowd, antlers and clicking hooves making her stick out like a sore thumb, and stops a good few meters away.
]

Ehehe - they're a little hit or miss, aren't they? [ she brushes her skirt off, more out of habit than any need, and threads her fingers together as she speaks. ] Um - if you're new here, Miss, I can try to answer any questions...

[Kanaya turns at the sound of clicking and then just kind of. Stops. She knew that the changes here got a little drastic, but it was a different thing to actually see them. The hooves, the elongated limbs, and damn, that rack. That was quite an impressive set of horns.

She realizes she's staring a little and glances down at the papers in her hand. There's a certain charm to their enthusiasm, but...]

I'm not very familiar with the creatures here. Just how accurate are some of these claims? Do the vampires really require specific and rather drastic measures to put down?

[She knew from talking with Rose that they were weak to sunlight at least, which still struck her as a little laughable, even now, but this stuff was entirely new. And a little hardcore?? Kanaya didn't any more durable than usual after she turned.]

How accurate are they? Mm... [ her gaze briefly drops to the pamphlets in kanaya's hand - it's weird, being able to see clearly again, even if they're just a little far right now for that - before settling back on the other girl's horns. ] I might not be the best person to ask on all of this, since I don't know many of the vampires, but... I don't think they're really any stronger than the rest of us?

[ she squints at the pamphlets again, this time actually trying to get a vague idea of what claims are being made. ]

I think that's just an urban legend, or something...

[Ah, so it's a matter of myth, not just outright ignorance or misinformation.]

The rainbow drinkers of my home planet, the equivalent of your vampires, also had many exaggerated stories surrounding them. They didn't live up to reality, either.

[and MAN was THAT a disappointment. kanaya got a hole shot through her chest and all she got was this lousy T-shirt and a constant hunger for to drink her friends' blood

SPEAKING OF WHICH. It's gone. The hunger is gone, as well as her rainbow drinker glow. It's like she's been returned to normal, which... doesn't make any sense. Honestly, turning into a rainbow drinker doesn't make sense, either, and apparently nobody knows all the rules about it, but Kanaya is pretty darn sure that's permanent. She had to die to make it happen.]

I do have another question, if you can answer it. I know this is an odd thing to ask, but do people experience any changes when they arrive other than the transformations I've already been warned about?

"Rainbow drinkers?"

[ it's a new phrase, something she's never heard, but it makes enough sense. at least, kind of. literally rainbows, or differently colored blood, or something...? well, she can ask that later. there are more important things at hand.

she nods.
]

It's not relevant for everyone, of course, but, um - people lose their powers when they come here. Anyone who could, you know, cast magic or transform or anything like that... they lose that coming into this place. [ a slight pause, and- ] Is- something like that the case for you?

You could say I'm no stranger to turning into a terrible cannibalistic monster. [There's a small smile on her face as she says this. SHE'S GOOD AT JOKES.] I had undergone my own transformation into a rainbow drinker over a sweep ago. It's strange that those changes could be so suddenly reversed.

[She smooths her hands over her skirt.] I wasn't expecting a welcoming committee or when I departed from the hospital. I take it that having hapless foreigners inexplicably heaped upon the local populace is a common occurrence here?

E-ehehe...

[ madoka has the decency to laugh at that, at least. and if it's more than a little nervous, who'd care? definitely not her, that's who. she's too busy trying to figure out what it is that kanaya's even saying here. ]

Um- yes! Yes, it is. People have been showing up every two months for, um... almost exactly a year now. I was a part of the first group, so I've been here... since the beginning, I guess.
