You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
The reserve date has been announced (it was changed to the 30th to allow a maximum number of people compared to a Friday).
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
Souji has never thought of monsters as fairy tales - then again, his definition of what a monster is has has always been pretty wide. But he is from a world were completely inhuman creatures are exceedingly rare, and it had definitely come as a shock to him to find himself and others around him transforming.
With that in mind, he tries to be a bit careful when approaching anyone who seems to be a newcomer in this place. He knows that his appearance will most likely be startling no matter how he goes about it, but at least he can try not to frighten anyone.
That said, filtered through Souji's idea of what is normal, his approach might still seem rather forward to most people. So as he hears the man mumble something in a strange language, looking fairly absorbed by one of the pamphlets, he reaches out and lightly places a clawed hand against his arm, smiling pleasantly. "I could help you, if you've got any questions."
This was why focusing too much on one thing was bad. But these pamphlets were just so strange and confusing, and he was trying his hardest to make sense of them. He'd gotten used to the people walking around, and had decided they weren't much of a threat, so he wasn't paying attention. Until someone came up and touched him. That alone was enough to make him flinch away, nearly ripping the pamphlet he was reading.
He looked up, intending to say something about not just coming up and touching him like that, but the words never made it out. Instead, he stared, which no one had ever told him was rude, and tried to form words. But it looked more like a fish floundering out of water. "What?" At least he finally managed to get something out.
oh my god, Bucky, you can't just ask people what they are
There is a strangeness which registers for a moment, as if something is slightly off and he can't quite put a finger on it, but then the more familiar reaction to his appearance seems more important. Souji backs off a bit, smiling and lifting his hands in what is hopefully a disarming gesture (one which might possibly be a bit more effective if said hands weren't clawed).
"Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." He speaks with a distinct lisp, and as his tongue instinctively flicks out to taste the air a moment later, the reason should be pretty clear. "And as for 'what', the being I've been turned into is called a naga - though I have to say that it's not a very polite thing to ask someone, you know."
Nobody ever taught him that 8( Blame Hydra, they have bad manners
Had that even been the what he'd meant? He wasn't so sure right now, but the answer was...good? Maybe the information would be good to have. He didn't know what was rude and what wasn't, just that he'd been surprised and what was the only word he'd been able to say. This hadn't been an attack though, and it didn't seem like this...person (?) meant him harm, so maybe he wasn't actually in danger. Maybe. He was still alarmed though, and his guard was still up.
"I. Don't know what that is." He hesitated for a moment, and then added, "Sorry."
The apology is absurd enough in the context that Souji laughs - although it's not an unkind sound, not mocking, just amused and a little bit exasperated. He shakes his head, beaming even after he gets the laughter under control.
"You don't need to apologize, silly. I didn't really know what it was before coming here either." He looks down at his tail, very visible now that he's in a rather simple and short slip of a dress, and there is a very slight hint of wryness in his voice for just a moment. "You could say it came as a bit of a shock to me. But nagas are snake people of some kind, even if we might all look a bit different. I'm sure we're in those pamphlets somewhere - although you probably shouldn't trust everything they say."
Now they were just re-entering nope territory pretty quick-not that they'd ever left to start with. Snake people? He glanced down at the pamphlets, then back up at Souji. So they were telling the truth then, assuming that this person wasn't lying. He couldn't imagine anyone being born that way. But he still didn't understand the how.
Bucky took a deep breath. "So...people do become monsters here?" He didn't like the word very much, but he wasn't sure what alternatives there were.

I made a terrible sound. Yes, this.
